I mainly bought this mixer just to power my headphones for when I'm playing along with songs on my drums. This mixer gave me more than enough power for that. To my surprise I discovered that this mixer is also great for recording vocals and electric and acoustic/electric guitars. I have not tried to record drums with this, but I will and I believe it will get the job done with some over head condensers. This mixer is a huge step up from recording my band's songs with a chat mic. Buy it now!

I use it for small events. Mostly for background music and very little speaking. all the features are great and is very well made for a unit in this price range. I don't know why Behringer does not listen. They have to put an on/off switch on these things. The continous plugging in and out of the power supply will eventually have to be replaced and they're just as expensive as some of the smaller mixers.

Comments about Behringer Xenyx 1002:

I used this as my in ear monitor mixer on stage. It lasted 100s of gigs over about 5 years. I finaly had the main slider give out last night. I'll probably pic up another one just like it.

Comments about Behringer Xenyx 1002:

Overall this is a great little mixer. Have used them for live recordings and never been disappointed. But be aware that the mic preamps are quite noisy, so if using to record anything other than loud rock, country, etc. then pay more for quieter mic pres.
Give it a 7 since only so many features can be crowded onto such a small device.
This is my third small Beringer mixer and the previous two are over a decade old & still going strong.
Value is excellent. Quality & logevity at a modest price equals value.

very good quality of sound and noise free. Works just as good or better than most larger and older model mixers. Very satisfied with the Xenyx 1002 model.

    Comments about Behringer Xenyx 1002:

I use this for small live events to provide background music or simple talking needs. What sold me is the control room output with a separate level control. I don't have to split the main output jacks. I use the control room output to feed a powered subwoofer.

      Comments about Behringer Xenyx 1002:

Its pretty easy to use. The mic inputs have preamps that sound good. It has lots of inputs and outputs.

There is a 2 track in and 2 track out, so you can record off the board, or play music (in ) during a break during a live show. I use it to record practice sessions.

It has control room out and main out, so you can have mains and monitors for live sound, or monitors for recording session. Has Headphone jack too for monitoring.

I wish the documentation booklet was a little more in depth. I can't quite figure out the FX send feature of the board.
I like the board so much that I may try to get the next bigger one, for more mic inputs, and to have an extra one to use.

I tested it with a powered speaker that I just got, hope to use the board and speaker for live sound for acoustic duo.

          Comments about Behringer Xenyx 1002:

This little mixer works great for what I purchased it for. My pastor wanted to be able to adjust his wireless head set mic volume himself. I mounted the wireless receiver on a stand between two platform chairs out of sight and plugged it into the Xenyx 1002 Mixer, then plugged mixer into a mic receptacle.
This gives him the ability to walk over to the stand and adjust the volume with me at the sound room still having the master volume control. It works great. I was concerned about extra noise, but the little unit is very quiet with lots of tone adjustment. For a litted added equipment gives my Pastor what he asked for.

I have run sound for 32 years in my Pentecostal Church. I have designed and built sound systems. My system is made up of almost all purchased items from Musician's Friend. They are a great place to do business.
My system is made up with, a Mackie mixer, M1400i Mackie and CS800 peavey amp driving the platform. A Mackie M2400i powering the house. I have a mix of Peavey and Yamaha floor monitors and Yamaha and Electra Voice Eliminators PA pushing the house. Too many mics and wireless devices to list. Mixer coupled to a Dell OptiPlex 960 Desktop for CD/DVD recording, sorage and play back.
