bought it to use in inexpensive home studio, replacing a small 10 chantnel that was dying. VERY PLEASED with the preamps! I still use outboard preamps for condenser mics and warming up guitar/bass but if you dont use outboard pres youll still be great! not SSL pres but very low self noise and good overall transparency! similar to mackie ONYX pres...only far less expensive! I have used many, many other mixers from full on 56 channel yamaha consoles to itty bitty off brand mixers and have to say that i would actually buy BEHRINGER products for their quality rather than price! Mixer has onboard FX from the virtualizer pro rack DSP & though the parameters are fixed, the FX are great and extremely useful! The I/O section of this board is GREAT with 8 inserts, 3 aux send/rets, 2 busses, mutes on ea. chan, solo/pfl for ea. chan (alot of cheap mixers dont feature this and its really necessaryfor CORRECTLY adjusting input gains ESPECIALLY if you dont have good mics (get xm8500's) or are doing sound for folks who dont know how to direct vocals into a mic properly. each xlr chan has low cut pad, FAB EQ and enough routability to accomplish most tasks! This is however a SMALL (only 8 mic pres) console and definately not the solution for a larger group or fully mic'd 5 pc. w/ multi vocal (i guess you could add a small line mixer to get the drums into one chan) but for a coffee house or small application this is a GREAT way to mix it up! Save your $$ because this IS just as good as some (not all) MACKIE & YAMAHA gear. With 20 years experience & a trusted (by many) ear i would DEFINATELY reccommend just about ANY BEHRINGER product! I own many from stereo condensors to dsp's. NEVER DISSAPOINTED or had to SETTLE for inferior products from this company...THANKS BEHRINGER! Weve been a winning combination for 11 yrs now! OH YEAH - it comes w/ a USB interface that when used with sub 1&2 will allow you to record 2 tracks @ once....they even have free DAW software at their web site! BEAT THAT!

Ok so im 15 and i needed something to record my drums with and i came across behringer. I got this mixer for my birthday, and ever since it has worked just as it should. The EQ is good and the effects are just fine.. The ONLY con i have for it is the preamps are a little noisy..... for me this isnt a problem cuz i use adobe audition and i just use the noise removal... but anyway its a great mixer for the price and it has not failed me yet, and i have had it for about 2 and a half years!!!

Behringer

By taylorman123

Well, it's a Behringer. Pretty cheap, good features, just it's pretty shitty. Right always cuts out on output, left always cuts out on input, just very unreliable. I would definitely advise a similar, but better mixer, such as a Peavey14 USB or something. This is a great mixer, just gets problems a lot and is pretty unreliable.

Not reliable

By TxPeggyL

from South Texas

I run a karaoke show 4 nights a week and have had "phantom" problems that were finally tracked to this mixer.. One night one of the speakers would sound like it was coming out of a well, then a left or right channel wouldn't work, etc. All problems were created by this mixer. I wouldn't trust it to use on a professional basis. If it was more reliable, I'd say it was a good mixer, but I'm replacing it after only 6 months of nothing but trouble! My electronic repair guy diagnosed my problem/problems without me ever telling him what mixer I had. Told him the things that were happening and his reply was "you have a Behringer mixer"...enough said!

Good Christmas Gift

By ludwigwiz228

from Wisconsin

I have been playing acoustic drums for a year now, I got a ludwig last christmas and I play it every day, and then, my father is a string instruments animal, so, when I didn't have mics for my drums, or a studio, because, I have a little musical project going on, this mixer was perfect for what I wanted it to do, the 16 channels were perfect, 7 for the drums, and a vocal mic for the top 8 channels, and for the other eight, 2 guitars and a bass, leaving extra room, for, whatever, this was the best present I could've got, for the price, and the quality, I also got a 7 pack of CAD mics which were just the amount of perfect for getting my music career a push.

Awesome Mixer

By SteveCTR

from Cleveland, OH

This was my first mixer. Before this, I just had an 8-channel mic preamp and used the computer mixer on my recording software.Once I got this, everything sounded more full and less digital. The Multi-Effects processor sounds way more real than built in reverb plug-ins on your software. Like I said before, everything sounds more full on this thing. For someone on a tight budget and beginning in recording/live sound, this mixer's awesome.

good piece of equipment

By brandon michael

I've been looking for a board for awhile for my home recording studio and found the Behringer XENYX 2222FX and was anxious to get it in. So far I can't complain too much. Honestly, it's a great board for the price, and does a little more than just what you need it to. The 24-Bit multi-fx processor is totally awesome and really kicks it up a notch. The board puts a really good solid sound. My only issues with the board is that it took a few times to actually get it to work and read a signal. Also puts out a hum sound with any instrument I use. Other than that, it's a pretty decent board and does the trick.

Very pleased so far

I think the Xenyx 2222FX is a great piece of gear. I was a bit sceptical about it before buying. I was using a Mackie 1202 VLZ board and needed more inputs. The mic pres on the Mackie might be better? Any other board with this many features will cost you much more Money. I use it mostly for live sound. I run out to 3 powered speakers. The effects are fine. All most people need is a little reverb and now I don't need to lug around extra rack gear. A guy at a music store told me the effects add noise-not true. I've been using this for a few months and had no problem. There are so many different ways to route signals I have become more creative with my setup. The only thing I wish were that there was a way to control the effects to the monitor send. You can do it, but I found it caused the FX to only come out of one channel? Maybe there is a way but I haven't found it. Overall I'm more than happy with this mixer. For live sound on a budget, go with a behringer board and spend more $ on good mics.

I Use It For Drum Mic Sub Mixing

By 9pkuFsVbd

from Southern Illinois

I bought this thing a few months ago to use it to mix down all my drum mics before sending the signal to the main board. It works great and I haven't had even a hint of any type of problem with it. I've used it for live performance for about 5 months and it is holding up fantabulously! It works really well for what I'm using it for. A buddy borrowed it to do some live recording to his lap top and it worked flawlessly for that as well. It comes with an adapter to link it to a PC or lap top for recording. There isn't hardly any idle sound or noise that I've heard of when it doesn't have any signal going into it when my mics are all plugged in. It is very quiet as far as electronic "noise" is concerned. The built in effects works pretty good for the overall cost of the unit. Unless your used playing or recording through the "high dollar" effects units used in professional recording studios then you most likely won't even be able to tell a difference. I give it a perfect 10 out of 10 all the way down the board (pun intended) because of the value, durability and sound. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an excellent value but also needs alot of practical and usable features to get the job done whilst sounding great!

Using it in live setting

By Drummer/soundman

See all my reviews

Using this for live settings. Very good value, good features. Let me tell you what I didnt like first. The on board FX are very good quality, and a large selection, however, in a live application you are limited to the use of these. 1st because only one FX can be assigned at a time, and all channels must use the same one. 2nd, the provided SUB outs cannot have FX assigned at the same time as the main outs. you have to select between SUB or MAIN for FX dedication. very frustrating as i wanted to put some FX in the mon send or sub sends. Other than that(which is easily solved by rack mounts FX)there are no complaints, Good quality sound, Plenty of headroom (dont be afraid to slide those channel pots way up). If you have experience working with boards, you will love it. If your new, take your time and experiment, because the manual sucks. For the money you cannot beat it for the quality and features.Good luck!
