The British consoles of the 1960s and ˜70s changed the sound of rock and roll. Without them, the British Invasion might not have even happened. The channel EQ on the XENYX mixers is based on that very same circuitry, allowing you to imbue signals with incredible warmth and detailed musical character. Even when applied generously, these equalizers exhibit sweet forgiveness and superb audio quality.
Mono channels on the UFX1204 benefit from the highly musical œBritish 3-band EQ with semi-parametric Mid control, allowing you to dial in the frequency center and boost or cut by as much as 15 dB. Channel EQ on the UFX1604 is an expanded 4-band version with sweepable Hi and Low Mids, providing even more tonal optimization. Both models feature individually switchable, true +48 V phantom power on all mono channels so you can use top-of-the-line studio condenser microphones”a feature virtually unheard of on a mixer in this class!
Stereo channels support balanced and unbalanced 1/4" Line connections and the 4-band œBritish EQs are provided for tonal adjustment. All channels feature 4 Aux Sends, switchable Pre/Post FireWire Sends, Mute/Alt 3-4 functionality and super-smooth, long-wearing 100 mm logarithmic-taper faders (UFX1204 only for MAIN MIX fader, channel faders are 60 mm).
What's a Compressor?
Compression limits the dynamic range of a signal, lowering the level of loud sounds and turning up softer sounds to achieve sonic balance. But applying compression is a delicate art that many novice, and even intermediate, sound techs have difficulty mastering. Behringer's œone-knob compression is available on all mono channels and is easy to operate, even for entry-level users. Now you can easily dial in the perfect amount of compression for instruments and vocals, creating powerful mixes with punch and clarity. Behringer's œone-knob compressors come standard on each and every XENYX QX Series USB mixer.
FX and Functionality
The UFX1204 features a very high-end stereo FX processor with 16 editable presets that include reverb, chorus, flanger, delay, phaser, multi-effects and Tap function for the ultimate in live performance enhancement. And because you can never have too much of a good thing, the UFX1604 is armed with not one, but two of these powerful effects engines for even more versatility.

Comments about Behringer Xenyx UFX1204:
I play guitar live using a laptop for backing tracks as well as a live drummer.
I'm literally speechless on the features that this board offers. My main issue is that I needed to send a click to my drummer from my laptop daw (Ableton). The click needed to be independent of what is going to the main output, to the audience rather. In other words they don't need to hear the click. Well this board allows you to assign 2 stereo outputs from your daw, outputs 1-2 and 3-4, to the last 2 channels on the mixer, inputs 9/10 and 11/12 respectively. These last 2 channels on the board are stereo inputs and there is a button on each of those channels that allows you to assign the channels incoming signal to what is coming off the computer or to what is actually plugged into the stereo quarter inch jacks of the channel.
So in Ableton I have my main mix assigned to outputs 1-2 and my click assigned to outputs 3-4. Then on the board I have the button pressed on channel 9/10 and 11/12 to used those channels for what is coming off the computer since I have nothing plugged into the quarter inch jacks on those channels. Then I can mute channel 11/12, that has the click, on the channel strip so it doesn't come out the main mix of the mixer. Then I'm able to "assign" the 1-2 and 3-4 daw outputs coming into the board, by pressing 2 buttons in the main mixer area, to the "headphone" output (they even give you 2 headphone outputs).
All the other benefits of the board a too numerous to list but I highly recommend downloading the PDF manual and taking a look.
