Now your iPod can be used to record live audio too.
The GoStudio Recorder is compact, portable, and sturdy enough to stand up to the rigors of a mobile digital lifestyle. Belkin designed GoStudio for a wide range of users - from podcasters to students, teachers to journalists. Its shape offers easy access to the controls and simplifies the audio recording process. The iPod docking cradle keeps your iPod secured in a position that allows convenient and comfortable access to the screen and click wheel.
The Belkin GoStudio will help you make the most of the high-quality recording capabilities of the iPod. You can use the built-in microphones or connect up to two dynamic microphones to record your sources. There are controls for level and gain as well as a limiter and a low-cut filter to help you maintain the quality of your iPod recordings. Lastly, the GoStudio offers a headphone jack and built-in speaker to play back your recordings on the go.
At its core, the GoStudio is a simple recording device that is designed for users that want to easily begin to document events with audio recording. The GoStudio takes advantage of a device that most people already own — an iPod — and allows users to navigate the iPod menu for recording, time stamping, and playback - making learning how to use the unit very simple. Additionally, the 16-bit/44.1 recording quality is as good as CD, and more than sufficient for live environments. Once recorded onto the iPod the files will be uncompressed WAV files, so they are easy to load onto a computer and edit.

I am a college musician who plays mostly acoustic originals at small bars, coffeeshops and the occasional community event. I love this thing. I plug it right into my mixer and am really impressed with the quality so far. The on boards mics are lame, but thats to be expected. But plug in your own mics or plug it into a mixer and you'll love it too. Really easy to use, I love the built in monitor.
This is a great box, with some limitations. The good: Easy to useGood input options, 1/8" stereo, 1/4" mono (2), XLR (2). Built in monitoring to drive earbuds or headphones.Good options on mic gain, with or without limiting and low cut filter. The not so good:The built in mics sound good for voice or low level sources, but are totally useless for anything amplified, they overload at an unreasonably low SPL. If you use a hard disk based IPOD the built in mics pick up the disk noise from track seeks, limiting their usefulness for low SPL levels. The built in limiter is really for voice only, it breaths more than Aqua Lung. Having said all this, the unit is a great value. It's very portable, and creates high quality music recordings if you use external mics. The built in mics would be fine for interviews. The files are easily imported into other devices or computer for editing. If you need a high quality portable recorder and already have an iPOD you can't beat the value or the quality. I recommend it as long as the deficiencies noted above aren't an issue (they are only minor to me).
