Everyone says this mic preamp sounds harsh and it clips very easily..NOT TRUE. This is a very nice micpre you just need to know how to adjust your levels and use the equipment. I LOVE HOW THIS PRE SOUNDS. most people are reading this like...what, its only $$$ how can it be good? Trust me. I have a Presonus Eureka 600$ and the bellari is right beside it. I run the Baby bottle BLUE mic into this bellari. Out of the bellari into a DBX 166XL out of the DBX and into the digi 002. With an additional Ultramaximizer compressor plug in with a threshold of -14 and quick release. WOW You wont believe it........BUY IT NOW
Very good product. Practical. Does its job very well. Extremely easy to use. No complaints here.
Great little pre-amp..nice bit of distortion when overdriven..I did a mod on it..replacing the Sovtek tube with a Grove-Tubes, it sounded a little less harsh..if you like the roughness of the Russian made Sovtek then leave it in..to me it was a bit too much..Overall a very good pre-amp for the money.
I love the true tube warmth of this unit. It gives every range of tube sound thats need for a mono track warmth project.
This is a very sturdy and very reliable unit. I've used it on several show occasions, and it hasn't failed me. It's not really meant to bringing a dramatic change to your sound, whether it's vocals or guitar/bass. I used it on both my bass and my screams...it sounded great with my bass, but it seemed that my screams were a little too much for the little guy. My only true complaint is the Sovtek tube, I've heard several others (names fail to come to memory) and they sounded great. So I would use this more as a type of clean-up for bass or an already overdriven guitar. It works very cleanly, the gain goes a little nuts when you turn it up, but it's not bad. Hiss gets a little crazy, but just get new cords and it does just fine.
