Comments about Beyerdynamic M 260 Dynamic Ribbon Microphone - Hypercardioid Pattern:
I purchased both a new M160 and M260 microphone at the same time. I had an M500 ribbon from Beyer about twenty years ago and always loved it s superior sound quality. I tested both 260 and 160 on my vocal which has a lot of low resonance to it and the 260 handled it wonderfully making me sound full and round without any low frequency pronunciation, reminding of a U47 condensor sound, next i tried it on acoustic guitar and wow is all I can say. Next I used the 260 along with and SM58 on electric guitar cab and this was just the best. Just a note that Eddy Cramer routinely used a 160 or 260 for recording Jimmy Hendrix's guitar because Jimmy cut live in the studio along with the band the Hypercardiode pattern prevents leakage this was also the mic Ed used for hendrix vocals as hendrix vocals were also recorded live along with the band.
