Peerless Blue condenser performance priced for everyone.
The Blue 8-Ball is a condenser microphone that gives new meaning to playing in the pocket! While it may bear a striking resemblance to another spherical mic that recently took the microphone world by storm, The 8-Ball resembles its circular cousin The Ball in looks alone.
The 8-Ball is a cardioid condenser microphone designed with the needs of the professional recordist in mind, but priced within reach of the beginning home user or hobbyist. Featuring Blue's highly regarded Class A discrete low-noise amplifier circuit, the 8-Ball's smooth frequency response is sure to please even the most discerning professional ear. Perfect for applications as varied as drum overheads to acoustic and electric guitars or vocals, the 8-Ball will perform reliably as your go-to mic.
A standard thread swivel mount at the base of the microphone allows the user to pivot the 8-Ball back and forth, making mic placement a snap. And because the 8-Ball requires phantom power, a front-mounted LED confirms that the mic is ready to use.

With all the good mics in this price range, Blue should be ashamed. The construction is cheap plastic, feels like it's about to fall apart. The sound is OK; but there's so much noise (including radio signals that it picks up) that you can't really use it for anything. This mic represents what's wrong with music equipment companies today: Good companies sell their designs for manufacture in China, losing all the qualities that made them good.
I love this MIC. The 8Ball has a very smooth and warm response. I use it for vocals in studio applications with the Eureka preamp and it sounds great. One of the best i've ever heard...well worth more than the list price. Not to mention that the way it looks with the "ringer" shockmount always leaves people wit there mouth wide open.
Very warm tone. The sound of this mic really delivers. Outstanding vocal mic. For the money, I have not experienced a mic like this. Very detailed up close and acomodating when you are belting it out. Simply excellent.
At first I thought that this microphone must be some gimmick, but after I used it I was sold. Give it a try for yourself , or even better pick one up. Fantastic value for the money, and looks good too, like all Blue mics do.
The only mic making my quality guitar rig sounding rich. Poor for vocal but excellent for overdrive or distorted sounds of guitar. killer for the price. downsides? plastic, on vocals usable maybe for skype, the sphere design looks great but is not very ergonomic.
