Comments about BLUE Mikey Digital iOS Recording Interface:
So I've had this mic for a few weeks now and I must say that this is a great little USB mic for your iOS device. This mic sports a 30 pin connector so it plugs right into your iPhone 4/4s or iPads. I have an iPhone 5 so I had to get the 30 pin/lightning adapter and it works perfectly fine.
I dont have a professional studio setup at home by any means and I wanted to record some songs that Im writing and arranging and this was probably the quickest way for me to do this. And I also use garageband on my iPhone 5.
The Blue Mikey Digital mic has some pretty cool features including a 3 postition slider that you can use to adjust gain I guess. If you are recording a loud audio source like I do with my saxophone, then you want the slider all the way to its highest setting so you dont get clipping or distortion. No clipping, no distortion. Very clean recordings so far. The middle position is sort of an automatic setting, but still might not handle louder sources. The soft setting is great for if you are in a quiet room and meeting maybe.
The mic also features an adjustable head where you can position the mic at different angles depending on where you are and what not. Also, there is a mini usb port on the side where you can plug into and your iOS device can be charged while you use the mic. Nifty little feature there, however for me, sometimes charging stops because its "not supported" on the iOS device or something like that. It may also be because the mic is also plugged into an adapter.
All in all, very good little mic. You can get very close to studio quality recordings with this convenient device. Very light, very versatile, very easy to use, and very reasonably priced compared to other similar mics that, at higher prices, produce similar or lesser quality results.
