After reading a few earlier reviews I was hesitant to purchase one of these systems. After some research and debating I went ahead and purchased the Compact PA and hove not regretted it yet, I doubt I will. I run the majority of my events digitally which allows me greater freedom with music selections, however, when other reviewers have said this system will reproduce the source exactly, they weren't kidding. I have noticed that if I have a song that has hiss or a low bitrate quality to it, the Bose system brings it out where it is more than noticeable. For instance, music that was originally recorded on analog equipment may have that "warm" feeling when replayed on analog equipment, here it just amplifies the hiss of the original recording and the now antiquated equipment. This system reproduces what you give, so be aware. I have used it for a New Years Eve gig where we had about 100 people in attendance and music could be heard in every corner of the room without being too loud or distorted. It is quickly becoming my "go to" favorite. For the record I use OTSDJ software and run it through a Toshiba laptop with nothing more than the factory sound card that came with it. It has done very well for me and I am looking into the possibility of purchasing a second unit. One note about that base module that is part of the unit, as of this date I have NOT had an issue with not having enough bass. It brings out the lows and mids fantastically! It is simple enough that my 13 year old can set it up and has. Hope this helps.

I had this bose compact for 30 days.. playing a Taylor, senhauser mic and Telicon voice live box.. the feeedbasck was terible, the unit in reality puts out about 50 watts RMS, practically 0 bass, couldn't fill a bar with sound. I traded for the Fishman tower and WOW was it an incredible difference. Same dispersion as the Bose but with 0 feedback..and plenty of power, PLUS USEFUL EFFECTS, AND PHANTOM POWER ETC,, Don't fall for the hype.. if you can afford 3 g's get the big Bose, otherwise.. the Fishstick is your best bet!..For larger venues I monitor out to a Fishman Loudbox 100 and that's plenty of power!..

    Amazing Sound System

    By Phxmusicman-06FVK

    from Scottsdale, AZ

Comments about Bose L1 Compact PA System:

Very light and easy to carry, has replaced my Yamaha Stagepass 500 PA that had 2 heavier speakers and 2 tripod stands. No need for tripods with this system.
Would like to see an EQ for the instrument/line input like the one for the Mic input, but other than that it's great. You can hear a slight bit of "air" when it's on and a mic is plugged in, but not that noticeable, especially when performing.
Only had it for a few weeks, but travels well and seems fairly durable.
Bose gear is always expensive, but so far the sound quality is amazing, distributes the same sound in a 180 degree area and even with the system up loud and my Mic in front of it (I use it as a stage monitor behind me also), no problems with feedback.

    An excellent small PA system

Comments about Bose L1 Compact PA System:

Sound is clear and strong, as you would expect from a Bose. How do they get that much sound from something so compact ??
Two channels on this unit plus many different types of input jacks. It has all the features I need and more.
Well built. Comes with dust cover and pockets for cords. I know guys that have gigged with this unit for years and haven't had any trouble.
You can't beat the price of this little jewel. It is less than half the price of the L1 Model 2. Buy two of these and run in stereo !

    Perfect for what I do

    By MJ from Chucktown

    from Charleston, SC

Comments about Bose L1 Compact PA System:

Overall, This has been the best purchase I have made for my for what I do. One day, if my venues or crowds grow, I will likely upgrade to the larger bose systems, but for small/'medium size bars and solo/duo performances, this thing is amazing. Most of my shows are for crowds of 20-50 people, however, I used this out an outdoor wedding with a crowd of 125+, and got quite a few compliments as well as people asking how all that sound comes out of those little speakers.
My only complaint would be the low end is not real powerful,, that being said, the low end is clean, and accomplishes what I need it to.
I use some basic effects to juice it up a bit, and occasionally need to use a mixer to get a few more channels.
Great system, great sound, easy to set up and transport,,, Perfect system for what I do.
The features are a bit basic, but it doesn't claim to have a lot. The sound and the ease of set up, more than makes up the lack of features and effects. I use very basic effects (reverb etc..) when I perform live, and this thing sounds great!
The quality is outstanding. I was not sure the compact would be loud enough, or would be a bit too hollow to fill some of the places I play (which are not very big, I play mainly small pubs and bars as a solo act). It fills the room and spreads it out like no other system I have had or tried. The beautiful thing is,, It doesn't have to be loud. It spreads the music sound so everyone can hear it,, even in the corners, without blowing their ears out. They can carry on conversations and groove to the music.
I have had more compliments on my sound since I got this unit.
It seems a bit pricey,, but I do believe it was worth it. Bose knows sound! At the end of the day, this system was designed to be easy to use, set up and lug around,, as well as sound great. I feel the ease of set up in addition to the sound quality make it worth every penny.

    Bose L1 compact

    By richard mcgough

    from St Augustine Florida

Comments about Bose L1 Compact PA System:

The Bose L1 is a very diverse unit. For several years I have been leaning towards simple and compact yet powerful enough to do the job. I have been using the Peavey Escort towards those ends and it has done the job adequately. I have used the Peavey in band, solo as well as DJ situations in large and small halls with excellent results over the years.

This past year I decided to make a change towards Bose. So far I have used the Li compact in solo musician and DJ situations.and am pleased. With the solo gigs there is no comparison ....light powerful and crystal clear...there is really no need for reverb in live performances but I still prefer it. i have been using a digitec 4 part harmonizer (containing an excellent preamp with all kinds of effects) in conjunction with and about a year befor I purchased the L1 which only enhances the already quality Bose sound.

In the few DJ gigs that I have done, I suppose the L1 could have done the job adequately but I decided to run a powered 15 " full range speaker with a non powered speaker as a slave (facing the wall) for more of that bottom "umf " that is necessary for dancing in a medium to large hall. For Dj gigs I have run a 12 channel Berringer passive board with effects into the L1 and that worked.

I have never done a eally large DJ gig (over 100 people) or used it as a sound system for a band situation yet but if the need should arise I would probably bring along the powered speaker and slave speaker (just in case) to supply more bottom end.

On one hand the L1 is easy to run and that is a good thing.

the 3 major complaints that I have are as follows:

    1. there is no powered outlet in the back of the unit......there are 2 sets of passive outlets and that is a good thing
    2. very sparse EQ....it would be nice if there was a 5 band or even a 3 band at minimum EQ for both channels
    3. whereas the full sized L1 has its higher range speakers all of the way up and down the tower the compact only has the top section with 6 speakers....the rest of the plug in sections of the tower are just spacers/elevators for those 6 speakers....that take the place of speaker wires. It would be nice if Bose could provide an option to substitue the plug in parts of he tower with similar parts containing ore mid and high range speakers. now that I would buy the optional equipment and use it.

The sound is excelent whethr used indoors or outdoors.
I geta lot of compliments on the sound and it is durable.
As it sits now I probably paid too much but with the aforementioned improvements I believe that it would be well worth the money.

    None Better

    By Thom EVERSOLE

Comments about Bose L1 Compact PA System:

I have been using the compact for about 6 months.I sing in assisted living facilities ,churches and outdoor festivals.I own the big bose also. It now sits in a closet. The compact handles any situation except very large outdoor arenas with several hundred people. The sound is clear and solid with no feed back.I sing with backing tracks on a MP3 player. I never use effects or any kind of mixer. The way it goes in is the way it comes out. Even with MP3 I get compliments about the sound quality. I set up about 5 times a week and this system saves me a lot of time and lifting. In about 5 minutes I'm set up and ready to sing. It is well worth the money.

    UNBELIEVABLE!

    By Cory Landry

    from louisiana

Comments about Bose L1 Compact PA System:

No doubt, this is the best musical purchase I have ever made. The last few gigs I've played with it. I don't feel like a hobbyist. I really feel like a professional. And it transcends, the people feel the music more because you're delivery becomes more "true".
I give it a 6 only because as a vocalist, I am used to compression and some sort of reverb and the bose carries none of that on the L1 Compact. TC Helicon makes great vocal pedals that is an easy solution to this, and really enhances the sound without compromising the integrity of the Bose sound.
Well built, solid, the knobs are solid, the construction is really rugged... I mean it's a Bose.
Let's be honest... no one wants to shell out a lot but in the grand scheme of things... I get MORE sound and Better sound than my "big" pa which includes, stands, mixers, rack units, this, that, and everything else. Just bite the bullet. Buy it! Best music decision you will make besides maybe buying that dream guitar.

    A must!

    By Gibbybose

Comments about Bose L1 Compact PA System:

I endlessly researched the blogs ,video, and store reviews. This system is ultra quiet no hiss, plenty loud and has enough bass for me for my electric and acoustic Gibson nighthawk and songwriter deluxe. I bought the t1 with the compact and It not only outs thriving on the cake it gives you options of what cherry you want! I do not gig out just jam at home with others and this has plenty of power with full drum kit! The clarity of vocals is amazing she is just down right beautiful. Never played a fish man but after playing the Bose never want to! Yes that happy! Highly recommend ! This Bose compact blows away my old PA 325 watts with 2 12" speakers. Hope this helps you make your decision! My wife commented how better my vocals sounded. The Bose sound does really fill the room amazing. Not a pro but have been jamming for many years.

    Tiny PA Big Sound

Comments about Bose L1 Compact PA System:

I have used my new Bose L1 for just three gigs now and for the small venues I do it has been great. There is virtually no feedback, the sound is full and the claim about the 180 degree delivery of the sound is true. The portability can't be beat. The only test now is time to see if it will hold up to outdoor use and the very destructive humidity of my local. While I'm on break the audience at an outdoor gig were amazed at how this little pa on a stick sent the music from a CD player all around the premises without being too loud. It has a narrow slot for use but does well for that slot of a single act and I solved the lack of features on it by my effects units that I use anyway and never need reverb etc. from a PA since I have a Vocalist Live 3 and an Ibenez acoustic guitar effects pedal. My looper sounds fine through it too.
