We are a three (sometimes 4) piece acoustic band consisting of guitar, keyboard, bass and percussion. We cover a variety of styles, from rock and country to jazz and blues. We describe our style as sexy eclectic acoustic electric, and its always a hit with the more sophisticated adult audiences. Because of the Bose, we are self-contained, traveling with our own sound system and taking up a relatively small space. We run 4 vocal mics and a cajon mic through a Proel mixer, along with the keyboard and acoustic guitars (run through a Zoom A2.1u DI/tuner/effects pedal). We could probably run the bass guitar through the Bose as well, but we choose to amp that separately. We've used the Bose indoors and out, in a wide variety of venues, and we love it. It's perfect for our clean, pure sound. We don't use any effects on vocals, and only some simple ones on the guitar for some songs. I've listened to the keyboard and lead vocal doing a song or two while I walk down the street or across the park or to the far end of the bar, and all I hear are good, clean, clear sounds.
We haul this thing around every weekend, use it for rehearsals and even loan it out occassionally and we never have to worry about it. It's well-built, rugged and solid. High quality, as you would expect from Bose.
Every week we say 'worth every penny we paid for it' and it paid for itself by allowing us to get gigs we might not have otherwise been able to play. And it makes us sound good.

I have been a working Blues musician for over 30 years. I have read alot about the Bose system for awhile now. I play guitar and sing in a Blues Duo. Guitar & Harmonica. Two vocals and Stompboard. I tried the L1 w/bass module without the T1 tone engine. I found that immediately I needed the tone engine for reverb. The sound seems very good and I am happy with that. I found the system to be much more bulky and ackward for travel. We are very careful with our equipment, but the soft cases are not very protective against dents, etc. The input layout of the system is not well thought out in my opinon. XLR's for just two of four inputs??? It seems that Bose designed with consumer electronics in mind, not the working musician. The cost of the equipment is way too high. After hearing the system without tone engine, I had to purchase an additional tone engine and additional power supply as it requires external power supply to operate w/model 1, to get sound I need on stage. I feel this should have been included. As for durability time will tell as there seems to be definate weak spots. Again, system seems to be designed for the home consumer and maybe not the working musician.

Comments about Bose L1 Model 1 Single System/Single Bass Package:
I have been playing gigs for a long time. I use the Bose L1 with 2 bass speakers. It does a great job. NO hot spots, unreal even sound and a very, very clean sound. The set up time is FAST.Best of all there are 2 ladies in our group and they can carry any part or all of the system. Not that i'am lazy but It's sure nice to have all 4 of us able to carry our share of the Eq. YA GIRLS
Comments about Bose L1 Model 1 Single System/Single Bass Package:
the speakers sound awefull the more you turn them up and they clip frequently but there is no indicator. the highs are muddy and the bass unit only works for high bass. they engineered the sound to echo in any room and make it sound different but it ruins it. there is also a built in eq made to "improve" the sound for the speaker but it actually makes it worse. the 3 band eq remote allows very little adjustments.
Comments about Bose L1 Model 1 Single System/Single Bass Package:
I have been doing one and two piece acoustic acts with this system plus a T1 tonematch for over two years and I can say with complete confidence that if you are in the market, the only thing better is the Bose L1 model 2.There is no comparison in sound. Is it overpriced? Absolutely. Bose can get away with that because there L1 systems are the best thing out there for small acts. This system will make you a better musician. You'll hear details that you've never heard before. For the first time you'll be forced to pay attention to and improve upon the slighest details in your playing and singing because for the first time you'll actually be able to hear them.People who know nothing about sound will comment on how good it sounds. The volume it achieves with crystal clear sound is almost unbelieveable. I finished a happy hour bar gig one night and the dj was late and the bar was crowded so the owner asked me to throw my iPod on until he got there. This gave me my first oppurtunity to really crank it up and see what it could do. I only got up 3/4 of the way on the master volume before it was painfully loud and still crystal clear.Features doesn't get a perfect 5 because it is kind of heavy and awkward to transport. But that is the only aspect of the features that is not excellent.Value doesn't get a perfect 5 bc it is overpriced. If you have the money do not hesitate to purchase this system. If you have a little more money, get the model II. Same sound quality but more portable.
Comments about Bose L1 Model 1 Single System/Single Bass Package:
I had bought the Fishman SA220, but was not satisfied with the sound. I had a suspicion that the Bose L1 would simply blow the Fishman away, since many years ago in my rock era I had a Bose 802's and a 502 subwoofer system that was just incredible. So, I sent back the Fishman and ordered the L1 Model 1. First thing I noticed was how big and heavy it is. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I was surprised at the size of the power base. However, the subwoofer is not all that big or heavy (compared to the old 502). After setting it up for a test (less than 5 minutes), I determined that the sound quality was indeed superior to Fishman, but still didn't have the "wow" factor of the 802 system. I realize that the 802's are about 3 times the cost and used huge globs of power, but I just expected more than what I heard from the L1. Anyway, I used it last night on a little job to provide backround music at a dinner party. Just about at the end of the evening we heard a pop and the system went dead. The power light was off but the fuse was still good. Apparently the power module blew. Musicians Friend is taking care of the return already, but gee, I just expect more than that from Bose.In hindsight now, I'd probably have been better off keeping the Fishman considering the price ($999), and all the features the Fishman has that the Bose doesn't. The Fishman does not have the sound of the Bose, but still it is not bad.PROS: Excellent sound quality / Quick and easy setupCONS: No crossover adjustment between the sub and upper speakers / No effects / No AUX outputs / A wee bit on the heavy side / In my case, defective product design, since mine blew up.
Comments about Bose L1 Model 1 Single System/Single Bass Package:
I own the L1 System 1, I play my guitar through it , I just plug my pedal board into it, I use a fender tele, I used to play through a tube amp, this blows that away,we have 3 of these in our band, we use them inside and out side and they sound great we have 7 bass bins, our bass man uses 4 drummer uses 2 and I use 1, I would never go back to amps and big PA systems, buy one of these you will love it.
Comments about Bose L1 Model 1 Single System/Single Bass Package:
I play piano and put bass/drum background tracks and vocals through the Bose. Overall sound quality is really great. I know it seems crazy, but sound is so pure you don't need reverb for vocals. The bass is really fat and solid. On-stage placement of the Bose takes some experimentation. Had to get over my preconceived notions of traditional speaker/amp sound systems. The system sounds consistently good in every room. Sets up and tears down quicker than traditional speaker/p.a. head. For best results use the T1 tone match unit.
Comments about Bose L1 Model 1 Single System/Single Bass Package:
I have these Bose L1 's 3 "pipes" & 10 subs, & using like PA system . Very good sound, frequency response, sound projection spread ( until 180 angle ), & less echoes in bad acoustic halls. This is best my purchase, when I was happy, that I spend big money for good equipment. 100% of satisfaction.
Comments about Bose L1 Model 1 Single System/Single Bass Package:
I have owned this system for over a year. I bought it used, with one sub. This is the best system I have ever used and I have been playing in a band for 8 years. You really need to have 2 subs for outdoor gigs. 1 sub usually works fine for indoor gigs. Also in order to get the maximum use out of this system you need the Tonematch mixer. I used a mackie mixer for awhile and the tonematch blows it out of the water with all settings and EQ's you can use. If you are planning on using this for a band you might want to buy one for everyone in the band, because 1 cannot keep up with a full live band. I have tried to use it just for vocals and I don't think it is loud enough. But for me the solo guitar loop show it is perfect and portable. People constantly look at it and are amazed by the sound!!
Comments about Bose L1 Model 1 Single System/Single Bass Package:
I have used my L1 for well over 400 shows and I won't travel without it. The venues love it because it doesn't blow out people's ears and it has a small foot print. I love because it sounds great and there is reduced liability since it all sits behind me. There is nothing to tip over or trip over.
