Combines superior coverage and tonal balance with easy transport and setup

Bose L1 Model II systems are our best performing, most portable amplification systems for musicians, singers, DJs and public speakers. These loudspeakers deliver wide horizontal sound coverage and our smoothest tonal balance“across the stage and throughout the room. Lightweight and modular, this sleek system fits easily into a car trunk and takes just a few minutes to set up.

Like the original, award-winning Bose L1 system, the Model II sound system is an all-in-one innovation that replaces conventional monitors, mixers and PA speakers. And this professional sound system is packed with proprietary Bose technologies designed to improve your amplified sound.

Sound advantages”only from Bose
The system's breakthrough loudspeaker produces wide, uniform sound coverage of nearly 180 degrees”onstage and throughout an audience of up to several hundred”with little dropoff in volume and tone.

The Model II system also features Articulated Array speaker technology for better tonal balance. The loudspeaker's 24 vertically mounted drivers are precisely angled to create clearer highs and more consistent tone in the room. Even people off to the sides of these stage speakers enjoy well-balanced, detailed sound.

Deep bass from small enclosures
Bose L1 Model II systems come with one B1 bass module to ensure more accurate amplification of lower notes for most voices and instruments”including guitars, keyboards and various horns. The double bass package is recommended for use as a bass guitar amplifier, and for kick drums and DJs.

B1 bass modules are considerably lighter and smaller than conventional bass bins required for the same performance. Power up to two bass modules on a single power stand. Add two more bass modules to the system with an optional PackLite extended bass package.

Light and easy
The L1 Model II power stand weighs only 24 pounds, and its four retractable legs make it very easy to transport and set up. The power stand also has a simplified control section; the single line-level input can be used with instruments, mics, mixers, laptops, MP3 players or DVD systems.

All of the system's components are also built to handle the road. The loudspeaker has a rugged, reinforced grille, and each package includes padded carrying bags for major components.

Spatial Dispersion and Articulated Array speaker technologies in the loudspeaker produce wide, uniform sound coverage. The 24 small drivers are arranged using Articulated Array speaker technology in a slim, vertical enclosure”creating nearly 180 degrees of horizontal coverage and consistent tonal balance. The loudspeaker's two-piece, interlocking design makes for quick and easy setup, breakdown and transport.

Integrated power amplifiers in the power stand provide clean, precise amplification for L1 Model II system with up to two B1 bass modules.

ToneMatch port on power stand for digital audio and power connection to ToneMatch audio engine.

Analog input, trim control and signal/clip LED for line-level analog input via ¼" TRS phone cable. Can be used for instruments or other audio sources like DJ mixers, MP3 players, computers or DVD systems.

Bass module out for amplified bass output signal to one or two B1 bass modules. L1 system automatically adjusts equalization appropriately when bass modules are connected.

Bass line out delivers post-DSP bass signal output. Accepts ¼" TRS phone cable. Use to connect powered subwoofer, additional amplification system or Bose PackLite amplifier with up to two additional bass modules.

Retractable legs provide stability for streamlined L1 Model II power stand and loudspeaker. Four retractable legs fold out of power stand simultaneously for quick setup and compact transport.

Bass module
Compact, lightweight enclosure is easy to transport, set up and break down. Small footprint takes up considerably less space than traditional bass cabs required for same performance. Interlocking feet let you securely stack up to four modules together on their sides.

Highly efficient speaker design features two 5.25" (13.3 cm), high-output, high-excursion drivers that produce deep, strong bass from a small enclosure. When connected to power stand, active equalization circuitry automatically adjusts bass signal appropriately.

For multichannel power: ToneMatch audio engine
Add the optional T1 ToneMatch audio engine (sold separately) to quickly expand the system and fine-tune your sound with powerful, proprietary tone-shaping tools.

Comments about Bose L1 Model II Dual Bass System:

Pros: Great sound, even dispersion, small size. elegant appearance. Cons: High price point, not quite as resistent to feedback compared to my other pro system, when used as a traditional Pa with a loud band in tough acoustic environnments.(However, it is still a better sounding system overall, for indoor gigs in typical clubs.
I recently purchased two L1 Model II systems with the double bass option. I'm using them in a loud classic rock band (5 piece) for small to medium sized clubs, as traditional PA system mains. I've had them for two weeks now, and we've done 4 gigs with them, all in crowded, noisy environments. I'm a very experienced sound tech, and I've done sound for hundreds of acts, on at least a hundred different systems over the past 40 years. But also being a musician, I now run sound from stage, and play saxophone and guitar, and sing... We play very loud on stage; big bass and drums, loud but great sounding electric guitars, acoustic guitar, keys, sax, and five live vocal mics. The speaker system I've been using is: (for each side), a custom built EV 18 bass horn, with a JBL srx series top, and big QSC power amps. This system has always sounded great, indoors or out, but coverage in this type of system is inconsistent when used indoors, and can be painfully loud up close. It has also been impossible to get this rig to upstairs venues, and looks scary to clients when we do weddings and functions, even though it has sounded great even at lower volumes...Enter the L1's.. the pros of this system is mainly their size and sound dispersion. They deliver extemely high qualiy sound, just like my other system, but when you walk around the room, especially exteme left and right, and the dead spot to close center, the sound is right there, with very little tonal change! ...However, I do have to use just as much EQ, as well as drum gates, and an exciter (mainly to fatten the bottom end, without over excurting the drivers). I don't find these systems to be any more resistent to feedback than my other system, but the musicians are getting a pretty good picture of what's going on out front, due to the incredible dispersion these systems have. The kick is full and fat with the two B1's per side, but would not be so, without eq and the exciter. I also EQ the top end a lot, but the little drivers accept the EQ gracefully and truthfully, and even respond very well to a boost at 10, 12, and 16K, without sounding distorted or over EQ'ed! Our faithful following has given us nothing but compliments about the new "sound improvements", and many people have marveled over the fact that although it is punchy and loud in the room, you can stand right in front of these speakers without experiencing any pain.. I believe I am using these systems at close to their limit. (I can see the red led's just starting to come on, which indicates that limiting is starting to occur. This does not result in any distortion.) I am getting all the volume I need, but as I said, I don't think there is much more to be had. I will probably supplement the little subs with my bass horns for outddoor gigs. We do some football field sized concerts during the summer months. I'm not sure how "big" this system will sound at such a venue, but I am curious to find out. I could not give this system a 10 rating due to the high price, some feedback issues, and the possible power limitations, but I can tell you that I am very excited about it, and can't wait to gig again with it!
So far, everything has worked great right out of the box. The sound quality is excellent, and I am extremely picky. Even the supplied covers are very nicely made, and the system is very elegant, and unobtrusive.
I would love to give these a 10, but the purchase price is so very high, and

Traditional PA #2

Comments about Bose L1 Model II Dual Bass System:

After owning these things for a few more weeks, I felt the need to write again, for anyone who might want to try them as a traditional PA system. Having been a musician and sound tech for over 40 years, I have to tell you that I am still very excited about this system. I do not use the tone match engine, opting instead for my 16 channel Mackie, with DBX digital speaker processing, noise gates (drums), and an exciter to get the job done. I have found that a slight EQ rise centered at 100hz,(wide Q), and another shelving rise from around 530khz on up, is all the eq I need on my processor. I use individual channel EQ, a little delay and verb, mild compression, and a small amout of bottom and top on the exciter, (with no added harmonics). I use the Behringer exciter, which is a copy of the Aphex, because I don't want the added harmonics of the BE unit, and I like the variable eq this piece has on it. This really livens up the sound, and only a tiny amount of processing is needed.. One of the guitarists in the band just bought the L1-2 system with single sub and tone match, to use as his stage rig for acoustic guitar, and Ric12 string. This setup has added yet another dimension of quality to our sound. The acoustic shines through better than ever, with less volume and greater transparency, with wonderful separation from the lead guitarist and his Bogner amp, which is also a great sounding (loud) unit..This system does not quite have the impact indoors that my awesome home built bass horns and JBL SR series tops had, but the fact that such a tiny system can be compared at all to the larger system is nothing short of amazing! I will still use my bass horns at large outdoor gigs, (and possibly the SR tops), but I am curious to see what the L1's can do in such a setting, since the sound is supposed to drop off less with distance. Some of our summer gigs include football fields, parks, and beaches, (over 1000 people), which really require even more than my large system can offer, so I might consider combining both systems...In short, the L1-2's with 2 B1's work very well as a traditional PA, used as mains for the entire band, with big bass and drums, five vocals, keys, sax, two guitars, and a wide variety of music, including very loud rock, in small to medium clubs with the typical lousy acoustics and noisy crowds. And anyone who knows me can tell you that I am very particular when it comes to sound, and very experienced and confident in my work...
Pros: Great sound, wide dispersion, even coverage, small footprint, very elegant. Cons:slightly more tedious setup, due to extra cabling, multiple parts compared to traditional PA...Also, the possibility for damage due to drinks being spilled onto the power stand.
Worked great right out of the box. Very well built. Even the included covers are high quality.
I'd love to give this system a 10, but the initial cost is just so high. If I can get 10 years of dependable service out of them, they will merit a 10.

Comments about Bose L1 Model II Dual Bass System:

I've run the piano, bass and vocalist through the system including mike over the drums and stunned everyone at what the unit can handle. The trick is to get the standard PA out of your mind and you'll be happy!
Used with the T1 and or a mixer the sound can't be beat. Total adjustments.
Still looks new after 4 years.
Worth every penny!
