Bose

Uniquely designed speaker system for lower-range instruments and vocalists.

BOSE has always been known and appreciated for taking audio to higher levels with unique, forward-thinking designs, and the L1 Model II single bass package with ToneMatch audio engine follows this successful formula. It is the premier BOSE L1 loudspeaker system for musicians, with their smoothest, most consistent sound coverage and most powerful tone-shaping tools. Lightweight and modular, this sleek L1 Model II system is extremely portable, easily fitting into a car trunk and so simple to put together, you're ready in a few minutes.

One of the most portable sound systems for musicians offered by BOSE, combines the L1 Model II single bass package with ToneMatch audio engine provides wide coverage, smooth tonal balance, and a suite of studio-class effects and tone-shaping tools. It's packed with proprietary BOSE technology designed to improve your amplified sound.

Like the original, award-winning BOSE L1 loudspeaker system, this Model II sound system is an all-in-one innovation that replaces conventional monitors, mixers and PA speakers. The system's breakthrough loudspeaker produces uniform sound coverage of nearly 180 degrees—onstage and throughout an audience of up to several hundred with little dropoff in volume and tone.

The Model II system's enchanted tonal balance comes from BOSE's Articulated Array speaker technology. The loudspeaker's 24 vertically mounted drivers are precisely angled to create clearer highs and more consistent tone in the room. Even people off to the sides of these stage speakers enjoy well-balanced, detailed sound.

Deep bass from small enclosures
BOSE L1 Model II systems come with one B1 bass module to ensure more accurate amplification of lower notes for most voices and instruments - including guitars, keyboards and various horns. Like most of BOSE's equipment, the B1 bass modules are considerably lighter and smaller than conventional bass bins required for the same performance.

Light and easy, yet tough
The L1 Model II power stand weighs only 24 pounds, and its four retractable legs make it very easy to transport and set up. The power stand also has a simplified control section; the single line-level input can be used with instruments, mics, mixers, laptops, MP3 players or DVD systems. Having said that, all of the system's components are also built to handle the road. The loudspeaker has a rugged, reinforced grille, and includes padded carrying bags for the major components.

T1 ToneMatch Audio Engine
Combining the T1 ToneMatch audio engine with an L1 system gives you exceptional amplified tone and sound processing capabilities. The compact, four-channel engine provides fingertip control of BOSE's largest library of ToneMatch presets. Just touch a button to make hundreds of precise refinements to the sound of instruments and microphones.

The T1 ToneMatch audio engine is designed to enrich the sound of musicians using any Bose L1 system. Its powerful features and tone-shaping tools quickly bring you closer to the true sound of your voice and instruments. This versatile digital mixer helps you sound your best in live performances. It expands the input capacity of your L1 system and gives you instant access to a host of proprietary EQ presets, standard effects and processors.

Hundreds of sonic refinements—instantly
The ToneMatch audio engine puts BOSE's largest library of customized presets at your command. These ToneMatch presets instantly optimize instruments and microphones for any L1 system, all at the touch of a button.

Different presets can be independently assigned to the engine's four channels. For example, select Audix OM5 mic presets for channels 1 and 2, Taylor guitar for channel 3 and Lakland bass for channel 4 - all at the same time.

BOSE's engineers often work with manufacturers directly to expand the ToneMatch preset library. Updates are available to you free, with easy downloading via the engine's USB port.

Intelligent equalization: zEQ
Fine-tune your sound system with greater accuracy. Bose intelligent zEQ redefines low, mid and high ranges for each ToneMatch preset. When you need to cut or boost specific frequency ranges for different instruments and mics, zEQ gives you the power.

Suite of effects and dynamics processing
Globally assign one of five different reverbs to each mic/line channel. You can also choose from three delay types, ten additional effects, and seven dynamics processors—and assign them independently to each channel.

Custom scenes
Store your customized settings for specific gigs with the Scenes feature. The engine comes with five predefined BOSE scenes and ten you can define. Fast, one-touch scene recall helps you make quick work of repeat setups.

Easy connections
Simply link the engine to your BOSE L1 Model II system via the included digital cable and rev it up. A sleek bracket is also included to attach the engine to the loudspeaker.

Comments about Bose L1 Model II System With B1 Bass Module and Tonematch:

I bought this system with the B2 bass module and used it to both DJ and run a keyboard/Microphone for a live 4 piece band. It was absolutely amazing and filled a 5000 sq ft. room. Everyone was amazed by the output and easy setup of this system. Add a sub and you'll never buy anything else.

Comments about Bose L1 Model II System With B1 Bass Module and Tonematch:

I have been using this system for over 6 years now and absolutely LOVE it. I wish I could give it 5 starts, but about 3 years ago (less than 2 weeks before an important wedding gig) the speakers all of a sudden (in the middle of a gig) became all distorted and just BAD sounding. I thought it was just the loud room or something, didn't get it much thought until the next gig (much quieter) and it was clear something was very very wrong. Long story short, it was under warranty so I mailed the speaker columns back (on my dime I think) and received them back about a week later in the same condition. I called customer service in a crying panic. They said they're diagnostics people saw nothing wrong with them... They obviously did not play or sing through them, because it was very obvious something was not right. After a bit more freaking out (wedding being days away) - they overnighted me brand new speakers columns free of charge and paid for the others to be sent back. This has always left me with an uneasy feeling that something could go wrong again at any moment. Whatever it was I know is rare, but you never know.

All this aside, this system is so easy to use, and light, and impressive looking too. Everyone wants to talk to me about it and can't believe all that sound is coming out of there. It fills any room with great clear sound.

My only other qualm is that some of the knobs of the tone match sound board but the knobs have become tacky and kind of gummy. Now, I leave my total system in the car year round and maybe this is not great for it (I live in eastern VA) - The three knobs right under the screen and also the phantom power button are just gross to touch like they are permanently melted and gooey. The others are fine, so it's just strange.

      Otherwise I LOVE this system!!

Comments about Bose L1 Model II System With B1 Bass Module and Tonematch:

This is an addendum to my previous review. I had the opportunity to use the system in live performance the other night. I played at a private holiday party for a local business organization with about 50 people in attendance. The banquet room seating capacity was around 150 with a mixture of carpeting and hardwood flooring. There were a number of large pillars near the middle of the room. I positioned myself in between the pillars but in way that I was visible to all of the tables. The system was about 7-8 feet behind me and not totally visible to all of the tables. In practicing on the system in my finished basement, I have had the Master set at 12 o'clock but I had to turn it down for the performance to 11 o'clock because people said it was too loud. Keep in mind that people wanted to be able to talk to each other while they were eating so I couldn't be too loud and over powering. I thought the system worked great but it was very strange not to have a conventional monitor facing me which I am so used to. I was able to hear my voice and the guitar very well but it was more like I could hear what everyone else was hearing (which is the way it is supposed to work). My voice and the guitar just seemed to fill the room evenly and perfectly and I didn't get the sense that the sound was being produced behind me. It really was quite odd but truly amazing. This is a great system.

Comments about Bose L1 Model II System With B1 Bass Module and Tonematch:

I received the Bose® L1™ Model II System a little over a week ago which I chose as a replacement for the conventional equipment that I have used for so many years. I was looking for a high quality, versatile, more compact system which was easy to carry, set up and use. I conducted a lot of research prior to my purchase which was well worth the effort. I had also heard very positive comments from people who had already used this system in performance. So far, it has met all of my expectations. For a reference point, I am strictly a vocalist and an acoustic guitar player. I play all styles of music but predominantly popular music from the 20's through the 70's and I perform in many different venues. I use all Martin guitars with the workhorse being my SPJC – 16RE Acoustic Electric. The system is compact (5 pieces) – B1 Base Module, 2 Cylindrical Radiator® loudspeakers, stand and audio engine. Each piece comes with its own very nice quality carrying bag. For the setup, the B1 Base Module fits snugly between the legs of the stand (either side) and the entire system takes up only around a 2.5 x 2.5 foot area. Bose ® recommends (ideally) that the performer be positioned approx. 7-8 feet in front of the system. I recommend purchasing the optional audio engine microphone stand bracket which puts the controls at your fingertips (If you sit on a chair like I do). There is also the option of having the audio engine mounted on the lower loudspeaker. All the pieces appear to be solidly built and of very high quality. Set up time for the system is literally a matter of minutes. The lower loudspeaker fits into the stand and the upper loudspeaker slides into the top of the lower one – no wires to connect as the electrical connection is done automatically; connect the base module to the stand and plug in the stand to a power strip (recommended); connect the audio engine to the stand and turn on the system. The microphones and instruments connect to the audio engine. The audio engine provides numerous sound options for microphones and instruments for each channel as well as globally. There are a number of preset options (Bose Scenes) which allow even the most inexperienced person to set up a particular overall sound for their performance (or a song) with just the touch of a button. You can also save your own scenes for future use. For the seasoned performer, there are numerous options to adjust the sound through Mod, Delay EQ, Reverb, Comp/Gate etc. Additional options include Bose's ToneMatch ™ presets designed for your specific instrument or microphone which can then be further modified using the sound options. The sound from the system is clear and crisp even with the volume turned up. This system is very impressive. I am also sure it will be a topic of conversation with your audience just by the way it looks – and sounds! I highly recommend it.
