Heavy-duty CAD mic with wide frequency range.
The CAD D189 is a supercardioid microphone created for professional singers and musicians. This CAD dynamic mic offers function and amenities to accommodate even the most demanding musical requirements. The mic's broad and flat frequency response yields amazingly natural sound. The supercardioid pattern limits obnoxious feedback (when used close to reinforcement speakers and monitors) and minimizes pickup of peripheral off-axis sound. An impressive internal multistage pop filter reduces wind and breath noise as well.
The CAD D189 microphone has a Flex-Form steel grille screen that provides a strong protective shell while reducing risk of a broken or dented ball screen, ensuring a mic's ability to retain its original shape and its solid and professional look. The mic features the original CAD Impact Noise Rejection system (I.N.R.-2 ) in which a rubber shock mount separates the transducer from the body.

It has a warming effect which sounds great on harsh instruments and amps, this mic sounds AMAZING on an electric guitar cabinet, as you can see on YouTube.
It is very solidly built, but not indestructible. After being abused, one of three we have makes a rattle sound when moved. The look and especially the feel of the mic are GREAT.
Sadly, as a vocal mic, the high-end roll-off subtracts slightly from ineligibility and crispness that may be desired, and the HANDLING NOISE is VERY LOUD. You can not touch any mic stand this is on, or else you'll hear BOOM BOOM in the sound system. Especially bad when my pastor tried adjusting his boom stand. EEK!
Even if it wern't on sale at a great Musician's Friend price, this mic will hold it's own with any other in the full MSP price range. Anyone who has done any serious recording has heard of a CAD microphone. CAD is known for great quality and value. Don't let the price of this little baby fool you, she holds her own. Great looks, great value, great quality from a trusted company. I'd say your look for a stage microphone is over right here.
THIS IS A GREAT MIC PUT MY SHURE BETA ON A ONE ON ONE BATTLE AND IT HELD UP GREATLY FOR THE MONEY THERE IS NO QUESTION THE BEST BANG FOR BUCK OUT THERE SOUND IS EXCELENT MIGHT BUY TWO MORE
This is my first dynamic mic I have bought and I couldn't ask for more. First off, I love the "better than SM57" freq. response. This mic has a very nice low end that makes vocals sound very warm. I also love that this mic can be used on guitar amps and snare drums. I threw it in front of an amp and it sounded pretty good. Lastly, I love the unidirectional pickup. This comes in handy when recording in a "live" situation in which I don't want bleed from other instruments, or when recording vocals I can crank the gain and not have to worry about it picking up everything in the room. Overall this mic is awesome. I wish this product wasn't discontinued because I would probably pick up another.
THIS MIC IS EVERYTHING IT IS SAID TO BE. VERY SOLID, FEEDBACK FIGHTING INCREDIBLE FULL BODIED NATURAL SOUNDING. ALL FREQUENCIES COME THRU CLEAR. It is similar in sound to the CAD c195 condenser mic but without the phantom power requirement. the only thing that would be nice is a switch but you usually don;t get that with a pro vocal mic. This mic can be easily EQ'd to suit whatever your tastes and still remains nice and clear, undistorted.
