Supercardioid mic designed for robust vocal tones and extended low-frequency response.

Engineered and built in the USA, the CAD Equitek E100S large diaphragm supercardioid condenser microphone has an extremely low noise floor for its class (3.7 dBA) and the smooth, vintage tone and robust low end CAD is known for. The bootstrapped, full-differential Quadra-FET front end delivers high sensitivity and low distortion, plus CAD's proprietary circuitry ensures the highest performance.

The CAD microphone's nickel-plated 1" capsule delivers accurate phasing on instruments, and a full rich vocal tone, accentuated by the extended low-frequency response. Features include an 80Hz high-pass filter and a 10dB pad. From vocals to percussion, acoustic instruments and everything in between, the CAD Equitek E100S condenser mic will prove to be one of the most versatile tools in your microphone locker, in the studio, or onstage.

The CAD Equitek E100S condenser microphone comes in a vintage woodgrain cherry case and has a stealth shockmount included. 48V Phantom power is required.

Comments about CAD Equitek E100S Large Diaphram Condenser Mic:

I have a 7 year old earlier version of this mic and it has been the only mic I have used for VO. Got a chance to use a friends newer version mic and was blown away. It is awesome. If you basic-ally want a plug and play mic requiring little to no after-recording manipulation with onboard ef-fects,this is it!. In my opinion, this mic comes close to mics costing far much more.

Comments about CAD Equitek E100S Large Diaphram Condenser Mic:

I am sure that this is a versatile microphone but it is SO good on spoken word that it is set up permanently in our voice-over booth here. Clear, articulate, flattering, trouble-free---I've never found a mike I liked better in this role, including some of the usual suspects that will cost four times (or more) as much.

Given that it does work well on spoken word, I would assume that it could be quite good on at least some singing voices. Must try it out someday!

The Cad does have a quite tight pickup pattern so good microphone technique is required. This also means that (along with its inherent low noise) very clean recordings can be achieved. I have never noted any sibilance problems with this mike; it seems to be very well tailored to the human voice. It is a tad bass-shy, which is a good thing in vocal use but might limit it otherwise.

If you are planning to record spoken word, I very much recommend the e100S. Incidentally, do not confuse this with earler versions of the CAD e100, which were very different (but pretty good) mikes.

Comments about CAD Equitek E100S Large Diaphram Condenser Mic:

I bought this mic after reading excellent reviews on its predecessor model and the fact that it is now made in the USA.

I have used a number of tube and solid state condenser mics in my studio over the last 10 years. If I could keep only one of them, the CAD Equitek E100S would be it.

The E100S does a phenomenal job of articulating acoustic instrument sound as well as vocal performances.

I am extremely satisfied with this mic. I am also heartened that it is made in the USA with a noticeable quality improvement over some of the imported mics I also own.

The CAD E100S was used to record vocals as well as acoustic guitar (in conjunction with a CAD e70 small diaphragm condenser) on a new CD I just finished. The E100S did a superb job on the vocals. The E100S (slightly off axis) and the e70 on axis of the sound hole, both about 10 inches away, did an excellent job of capturing the nuances of my Brazilian rosewood dreadnought and 000 guitars.

I've used this mic for 3 years and like it more than ever.

Comments about CAD Equitek E100S Large Diaphram Condenser Mic:

This mic is, in fact, remarkably quiet, but it was not suited to my voice which is Richard Sturben (Oak Ridge Boys) low. I've been using an AT2020 and I was looking for more "presence"...didn't get it and, yes, I played with the bass roll off with no success either. This mic seemed to add a tinny quality to my voice. It is extremely well made...like a tank and I'm certain that it will be perfect for voices that aren't as low as mine.

          New CAD E100S!

          By Ethan B.

          from Alberta, Canada

Comments about CAD Equitek E100S Large Diaphram Condenser Mic:

I ordered a CAD E100S and it came in the mail today and I'm impressed. Sound quality is great, its got a nice fullness to the low end and its a warm sounding mic. I compared it to my CAD GXL3000 and the E100S has a warmer tone, the lows are much fuller and nicer, and the highs are great to! Also the self noise of 3.7db is amazing, its dead quiet, where as with other mics it is higher, my GXL3000 for example has a self noise of 20db. Overall for the money its a great deal. Also with the current rebate you would be a fool to pass this up! I may do a follow up review when I've done more recording with it.

15 Years Later...and It Still Rocks!!!

Comments about CAD Equitek E100S Large Diaphram Condenser Mic:

I've owned a CAD e100 since the mid 1990's and have never been disappointed in the device. I use it in my home studio for vocals, guitar, and piano; I even recorded some horns once and it did great. If the newer models are as good as my vintage one, every recording engineer/musician should have one in their quiver of transducers.
