OVERVIEW

Point-source transduction, field-effect detection, and pure high voltage.

The CAD GXL1200BP Condenser Microphone has a small diaphragm and a cardioid polar pattern that captures your instrumentation with exacting detail. It is a good well-rounded general instrument mic for applications in the home studio, and is priced for the budget minded home studio owner. It has been sonically described as having pushback on the lows, a dip in the upper midrange that produces sound with a nice body with a little "air" on top. Proximity effect is inversely proportional to distance. Sports a stylish pearl black chrome finish. Mic clip and protective pouch are included. Phantom power (48V) is required.

Applications: choir, orchestra, acoustic instrument, guitar cabinets, strings, piano, cymbals/overheads, hi-hat, and snare drum.

Comments about CAD GXL1200BP Cardioid Condenser Microphone:

I haven't used these live yet, I'll update after I do, but so far, I'm pleased with these mics. They seem to be well built, and sound okay through headphones in the rehearsal space- I'll test drive them first at a rehearsal, and then on a gig or two and get back...

Comments about CAD GXL1200BP Cardioid Condenser Microphone:

Definite Proximity effect. Adjust the EQ most effectively by distance from the microphone. This Mic is both sensitive and stands up to high SPL's.

Comments about CAD GXL1200BP Cardioid Condenser Microphone:

Has a good wide frequency response, however the flat range is 1 to 3 feet. further than 3 feet gives a bass roll-off (rather quickly) and the bottom thins the further you pull back. The bass inherently increases in the 1" to 12" range. A definite proximity effect.
The SPL (Sound Pressure Level) is better than listed at least to the ear.
