if i buy this again i 'd buy a couple more and leave it to one location rather than traveling with one single mic. it's good quality mic but not built for heavy duty use. if you use at home, podcast, video conference, etc, this should be great for you.
not bad for this price range. have 0/-10db switch, low-end cut, comes with its own desk stand and a long enough usb cable.
i would rate it higher however, after 2 years of constant usage the usb connector broke off from the mic. (i use that to record my lectures and plug/unplug it 4 times a week, 40wks a year.) it can easily be fix with slight modification. but for the sound quality its very clear with much details. though i mainly use it for lecture hall recording. i did record singing a couple times with average result.
can't beat that if it's on sale. aint the best mic out there but its great at the price range.

Don't buy this microphone if you're planning to do any "real" work with it.
First off, this microphone sounds fine. Great, even. The roll-off switch works as advertised, the pattern is well-formed, and the quality of the vocal reproduction is great.

I bought this microphone to use in multitrack demo recording. I shouldn't have. One word: latency. Anyone who has done their own multitracking knows what I'm dealing with. I use a usb preamp/recording interface which allows me to monitor my input in real time. I SHOULD have gotten a standard condenser that I can connect to my preamp with an XLR cable. Instead, I'm dealing with hearing what goes into the microphone come back through my headphones several milliseconds later. It makes it impossible to record.

If you need to monitor what you're recording in real-time and you don't have a high-end, ASIO-compatible audio device, avoid this microphone.
The casing is plastic. It feels a little cheap. The diaphragm is obviously well-made because the sound is great. I'm a little worried about the plastic mounting hardware, also. Not made for rugged use.
This is pretty much a desktop computer mic on steroids. I think the price is fair enough but you won't find much in the way of versatility.

Do Not Get!!

By gretschdrummer1000

Comments about CAD U37 USB Condenser Microphone:

I was told that this would be a good mic for recording instruments such as guitars and drums. I first tried it out on drums, and it sounded terrible. I thought, must be something wrong with the settings. I tried out the four settings that it had built in (different frequencies and wavelengths). Still sounded horrible. Let me describe the sound. It sounds all choppy and crackly, sort of like static. I moved on to my software, and tried to change some settings. Didn't work.By now I accepted the fact that it did not sound good on drums (at all). Now I moved on to the guitar. I have a Fender Stratocaster hooked up to a Fender Twin Reverb (which sounds great). I try to record with that. Same horrible crackle sound. Adjusted the four settings. Again. Still did not sound decent. I have to tell you, the thing looks great though. Looks like a professional recording mic, but boy, is it far from that. I paid sixty bucks for this "microphone," and it is not worth even 10 dollars. So, do not spend $20-$70 bucks for this mic, it is horrible. Now I have to find some money to buy a "decent" mic. Hope you consider this review.

Great Mic!

By Jane Prespare

Comments about CAD U37 USB Condenser Microphone:

Love this mic. If you want something that sounds high-end, I wouldn't recommend this. But if you want something that sounds fairly decend for like Podcasts or YouTube videos, this is fine!
0 to -10 db, and low-end cut! Desk stand and a really long usb cable!
I give this a 9 for the fastastic-ness of this microphone! It sounds amazing (for the price) and is just overall an amazing mic! Only thing I didn't like was the way it feels. The plastic covering the insides of the mic feels cheap and flimsy, so I feel I must be extra careful with it. Wouldn't recommend this for clumsy people, but for the price, it's not too bad to replace!
Again, only the outer plastic of the mic ruins this for me, but it is still amazing!

my first mic

By funk-it-up

from Memphis, TN

Comments about CAD U37 USB Condenser Microphone:

This microphone was given to me as a christmas gift. I needed something better than my terrible onboard monitor mic to record music tracks with. It works great. All you have to do is plug it in to the usb port and the computer recognizes it immediately. No software needed. It is sensitive in the regular setting, but not too sensitive. You can set it to -10 db. The only buzz I can hear in my recordings come from my computer tower and my amplifier. The mic itself didn't seem to have any buzz at all. It is a great value for beginning amateurs and it is very simple to use. The mic stand is just fine, and the usb cable is 10 ft. which is nice. I am very happy with it. It picks up voice and singing very well. I use the free version of audacity to record with, and just had to make one minor adjustment in order to hear tracks so I could record over them. Great buy.

Comments about CAD U37 USB Condenser Microphone:

This, so far, is my entire studio. I didn't expect much when I got it but this has impressed me a ton. I run it through garage band and the quality is amazing. I record my acoustic on it, make a different track, record vocal, add some drums, you can really do a lot with it. I've made a lot of quality recordings with it. Very nice mic.

Well worth the investment...

By DJ -mGq3A

Comments about CAD U37 USB Condenser Microphone:

...as long as you're not expecting to sound EXACTLY like your favorite recording artist. You're not going to get that level of recording with ANY usb mic on the market. But, you WILL be able to record very clear, crisp, clean "cd quality" audio, with minimal hook-up.It may incorporate plastics in it's design, but this is no toy. It's the perfect solution for any singer/songwriter, rap artist, or small group who needs to document their compositions or rehearsals. It's also an excellent choice for mobile producers. Whether you use the included desktop stand or mount it to a gooseneck/boom stand (contrary to what some have said, it attaches in seconds), it'll be there when creativity strikes. The mic is indeed quite sensitive, but if you utilize the -10db switch & follow the instructions, you'll get results.I've had NO ISSUES using this mic with Sony products (XP or 7). I've used it with standard drivers & ASIO drivers. It gets the job done.

Comments about CAD U37 USB Condenser Microphone:

I've had this mic for a couple years and now that I'm getting into more serious recording a new one is absolutely needed. This mic pics up a lot of static noise, and it, as other reviews have stated, has latency issues. The only reason I didn't give 1 star is because I don't have a lot of experience with mics.

    not happy with this mic

    By misskiss75

    from Oklahoma

Comments about CAD U37 USB Condenser Microphone:

I bought this mic to sing on sing snap. It was recommended by a friend of mine that is a musician and it has too much presence and not enough low end. It is clean but makes me sound like I am singing too high. On songs where I sing low, it doesn't have the rich low tones that my cheap radio shack mic had. I am still messing with settings but not much to mess with. I am not happy with this so far. I sound like I am singing in a barrel,

    It's a Nice One

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

Comments about CAD U37 USB Condenser Microphone:

After using this for a while, I must say I am quite pleased with this mic. I am a guitar player and I kind of sing decently (or maybe not) and this mic fits both needs with the right setup. The -10db switch is quite useful for recording a band in full swing, and it is quite sensitive. For vocals, you can leave it how it is or with the overload switch on, and sing with it a few feet away. It is sensitive enough so that you don't have to sing into directly into it, just a foot or two around it. If you need to record loud sources like guitar, follow these instructions for Windows. Control Panel>Sound and Audio Devices (audio tab)>Click on volume on the Sound Recording Section. Once the panel comes up with a vertical volume slider, click Advanced and disable the ACG. This will make it about half or two thirds less sensitive, and it can handle a decently loud amp from a foot or two away (15W tube amp on 3 or 4 volume, or maybe 5 when it's a few feet away.) This gives guitar or bass players as well as vocalists something nice, and overall it is a very clear, nice sounding mic (although it may be a tad sterile.) For a band, you should invest in this mic and it will be a great investment.

Comments about CAD U37 USB Condenser Microphone:

Just got it and have only had it running for a few hours. So far perfect for what it is. It is a low cost condenser USB mic that does what its supposed to. No noise and no problems. If you have a laptop and want to record get audacity for free and this and your running for a very low entry point. You probably need to mess with the levels to get it to run right.

    Very, very cheap

    By Death Rave

    from Presque Isle, ME

Comments about CAD U37 USB Condenser Microphone:

First off, the stand is worthless. It feel off a desk ONTO A RUG and the leg snapped off...and it's almost impossible to find a way to mount it to a mic stand, so you're going to have to hold it constantly.Oh yes, let's talk about the quality. You literally have to hold the mic at an arms length to talk normally into it, or else it sounds like you're screaming into it. It picks up WAY TOO MUCH, and if you are using windows vista you cannot edit the sensitivity, you will get an error message every time. (happened on two different vista computers) This microphone is buggy, way too buggy for it's price, and not worth the money. Please, PLEASE, save up for something better.

Comments about CAD U37 USB Condenser Microphone:

Just bought this mic for my studio and I have to admit It gets the job done. The quality of the recordings is perfect, except for the fact you have to mess with it a little bit or the mic will be a little too sensative. I had to knock down half a star in quality because I would have preferred it be made of more metal material than it was, and the plastic it's made out of sometimes makes me fear I might accidentally break it. However, I have no complaints aside from that, I use Acoustica Mixcraft and it works perfectly with that and other recording software. For a price like this, it's definatly worth the money.

Great microphone for an even greater price

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

Comments about CAD U37 USB Condenser Microphone:

This microphone has amazing sound pickup and clarity, and makes your recordings sound exactly like your playing. There is a switch which minimizes distortion and decreases the input volume slightly, and there is also a bass reduction switch, which both work well. I had logitech speakers and a subwoofer, and my recordings of guitar sounded very full and rich (people couldn't tell the difference from the sound coming out of my amp and that from the recording.) It is very responsive to voice and vocals, which are also rich and clear. Handles bass well, but i haven't tried percussion, but I'm sure it will come out crystal clear. Great microphone that can help you make your recordings sound less amateur, and the bass and -10db overload switch can improve the sound of your recordings before mixing.

    Best deal for the price!

    By Johanaboughtabanana4me

Comments about CAD U37 USB Condenser Microphone:

I use this thing for everything. I bring it for live recordings three times a week, and it works amazingly well. And of course, studio work is better still. You have to experiment with it alot and MAKE SURE YOU READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! I had some trouble figuring out how to use it for a while until I did so myself.I stepped it down a half star in features and quality just because it would be cooler if it had a volume knob on the actual mic and if it had metal siding, as most of it isn't. Greatest deal you caould possibly find for quality, though. At least in this price range.

I'm a co-owner of a studio that's been in business for over 11 years and I have to say that this is the most convenient mic ever. The vocal recordings are very smooth. Smoother than my Rode Mics. The mic sounds good on all settings ACG on, ACG off, 0, -10, flat, bass rolloff. This mic is an excellent deal!
