The unit was shipped in good shape, good packaging and 1 day early (thanks MF!). Getting it a little earlier gave me some time to try out the unit prior to using it for an annual awards ceremony/dance where I DJ'd. The three modes (auto - ACt, remote - rEM, and DMX - sys) are easily configurable from the menu control on the unit. It would be nice to have some additional information in the manual or online for the laser patterns that are accessible from DMX 4 channel mode, or the remote, but one can figure it out from the DMX 7 channel information in the manual, or just by playing with it. I purchased this with a Chauvet Obey 4, and was able to try out the unit in both 4 channel and 7 channel DMX mode by setting the fixture controls accordingly on the Obey 4. For the event I used the unit in 4 channel mode which allowed me to configure chases, fades and presets very easily on the fly. The sound mode commanded through the Obey 4 unit worked well, but there is definately a "sweet spot" with the sound sensitivity control where the unit responds best to program content. The unit is surprisingly bright, and with the addition of some other lasers and a few black lights did an adequate job for the dance floor in a room that fit about 120 people comfortably. I also puchased the Chauvet CH-06 stand to use with the unit, but the hole patterns did not match the unit. A quick trip to the hardware store for L brackets, a little machine shop work and I had brackets that matched the unit perfectly with the stand. The lights responded well all evening, although I think that next time I will add another mini color strip for the same size of venue.

I like the lights they are bright, sometimes too bright. Run cool easy to transport. I have 5 mini strips. 2fx's with lasers 3 older without. I'm still not sure how to work them. Codes and selection are hard to navigate and the manual steps don't seem to match. Can't get the ir remote to sync.

Got 2, Use for local niteclub gigs as back/wash lighting ,Have lots of other LED par cans. Used these to set on floor against walls. Not using DMX, setup required a tech support call as manual is useless. Overall at this price a good value and they seem to work well on the last 3 gigs. We'll see as I use them more, but seems like a solid addition to my lighting gear.

I bought this product for my own personal gigs, I play 6 days a week for the last 40 years. Some venues do not have any lighting, so this little light bar is perfect. I'm installing this one at a gig I've been working for 27 years

The lights and colors are great, But how to operate is very difficult to figure out. Help us all please with Youtube videos. There should be examples on how to get certain laser effects and light patterns. Why would you not have an On/Off power button?

Comments about Chauvet COLORstrip Mini FX:

Settings for the variety of color schemes are not easily explained in the manuals to any of the Chauvet System bar lights, and that will be frustrating for a while, but they are bright when you want them bright and with a controller, accessible on all counts.

instructions does not cover the remote very well, need to simplify the remote for us novices that are not use to operating light effects.Automatic or Music are the best choices if you are unable to figure out the remote portion to programing your own effects, all in all it is a great light for the price, and the lazers are amazing once you figure them out too.Well worth the money, I should have bought two when they were on sale.

Comments about Chauvet COLORstrip Mini FX:

I've owned a couple of the original Colorstrips since they first came out, several years with no problems. I ordered 2 of these from the MF sale. Out of the box, on one of the units the blue LED's in the square by the laser didn't work. I'm returning this and getting a replacement.

My needs are simple, basic back wash for band use. With 3 of the full size Colorstrips and two of these mini's, I'll have a 15' plus span. The laser FX are surprisingly good, and show up well even with the LED's on.

Bought this to spruce up my home studio; when reading directions they suggest mounting in such a manner so it is 3 feet above your head for safety when using lasers. Would have been good to know before buying for modest room but it is still a nice unit

Wow, what a great mini light bar. I got two for up-lighting and they were great. I set to music and automatic. The lights worked great and the laser were over the top. Great patters and I found myself watching them on the ceiling and around the room. 160 degree throw with many built in patters. I got 2 more, so I would have enough for any small, mid sized and large room that doesn't have house production. Kudos! The IR remote is cool too once you get used to using it. I hit Music and Auto while I'm playing.
