I've sent back two of these units since Jan 05. Both heated up like a good fog machine will. However, neither one produced any fog. I'm currently waiting for the 3rd one to arrive on my doorstep. I hope it works. I've used a fog machine in the past, so I'm confident it's not operator error. They're generally very simple to operate. If Chauvet has a quality problem, M.F. was unaware of it and could only tell me that other units had been shipped during the Jan-Feb 05 timeframe.
I love this little machine. it fogged up my upstairs pretty well with only a eighth of a quart. You should go for it.
The cardboard box this fogger comes in is made much better than the fogger itself! This blew fuses right out of the box, a wire was pinched in the chassis and shorted out. I fixed the wire, and it works somewhat. But, it blinks "low fluid" even when the tank is full. If you tap on the side it works for a few minutes. This is a poor quality fogger that was built in China. It was a total waist of time and money.
I have owned 10 of these in the past 4 years. Some worked for a while and then stopped, others were DOA. Chauvet refuses to believe that there is a problem and continues making these. I just bought one about 3 weeks ago and had it die on me tonight. This is not user error as I have been dealing with professional sound and lighting equipment for over 20 years.Save your money and buy a Martin, if you value a continuously working product. Otherwise, this would be good for one Halloween and then toss it.
This machine wasn't made of the stage, where hundred's of paying fans would attend. I have had no problems with mine. It has worked every time I needed it, and no glitches at all. And mine came with a gallon of juice. Overall: It's worth the price. You get what you pay for. Want something for stage use, expect to pay a couple of hundred dollars.
This fog machine is a very good fogger when it works. It has a tremendous amount of fog that it puts out. I have one now on the blitz because it ran out of fluid and it didn't cut off like it was suppose to. It sucked the tank in and ruptured it causing it to leak. But I would have to say overall it is a good buy. I am going to buy another one just like it. I have had a lot of fun with it. Goes great with my light and laser show.
I am not going to put this smoke machine down in any way. I bought some new lighting and picked this machine as well. Great or a pro mobile dj. I used this machine for 5 years before I had any major problems with it. Not bad, but if you want a really pro machine for mobile use, GET A MARTIN/JEM smoke machine. Try it and you will never go back to any thing else. This Chauvet is no doubt a good product.
I have had my fogger for about a year now and it does the trick when I need to fill a 10,000 Sq room for a stage show. It does need a timer on the remote. That would be a nice thing to get with it.But overall I do love mine.
