I have ran these for a month now. Flawless. I added the Chauvet CH-175 Color Bank Pro since it links up to the Ch-158's. I used them outside for a Halloween gig. They really punch out the light and look great from even 500 feet away. They run all night without a worry. Power draw is much less than Cans. If you lay out the jels to sync they look much better.
We are a smaal three piece band and we tend to play small clubs. These lights are exactly what we needed. They are small so they stay out of the way. Set up and tear down time is quick and easy. Even for their small size, they produce plenty of light. The only negative, and it's a small one, is that even on the lowest setting the lights are too sensitive in the audio position. Other than that these light are just we've been looking for.
For those who want quick set up and ease of use this is great. The only problem I had was trying to plug in the cable to the foot switch box. With a little practise the workings of the foot switch to control your effects become easy to figure out.
Bought the PK-1 last week, used twice. Can't get foot controller to work consistently, so am using lights as "Full On" only without the remote. They are plenty bright for even a 24' wide room. At full on, the stage was well lit. Simple to set up and move around, way easier than our big old Par can system. Construction is cheap, the padding on the clamps that hold the bank to the (flimsy) stand came off during first use. The light bulbs tend to come out of their sockets during transportation, and to snap them back in, you must remove gels. Gels are a trick to install...at first. All-in-all though, this system lights up my trio just like I wanted it to. It would have been nice if the remote would work. Dimming would be nice too, as would being able to scroll thru colors with the footswtich, but you pay more for that.
Initial impressions of this system is that it is very portable and easy to set up. I will warn you that the foot pedal is less than desirable. But after a little playing around with it then can't complain. The lights are extremely bright, and does well with the timing of the music (although have a fan around, they can get hot fast). If you want a little more zing with your band yet don't want to spend a lot of money, this is a good buy.
I really like these lights. Small and portable and gels were included. These were not designed for a high tech light show, but they give a nice effect for a small club. The sound activated chase effect works perfect with live drums. Only problem, two light bulbs were broken right out of the box, but it cames with two spares...so it worked out OK. I purchased extra on the web.
Great all in one light show. Stands are cheap so don't plan on using them. They only go up about 6 feet as well. Very bright for what they are. wish they could dim.
My band bought this as a basic set up for club gigs. I was very impressed by the features and the quality. I have not had any heat problems like the other review. The only confusing thing is the footswitch, it takes some getting used to. You have to remember that each switch turns on the function that you are selecting, if you click that function again to turn it off before selecting the next it works better.
I am in a 3-piece band and used this for the first time Friday Night. I am thrilled with it right out of the gate. It is Easy to set-up, Small to transport. I controlled the footswitch next to my hi-hat with my left foot and it made a world of difference in the show with blackouts and audio chase scenes. And it definitely enough light for the band. I will be leaving my 2 Bulky light trees and PARs at home and using the PK-1 from now on.
I got these lights about a week ago and they work great. I used them at a club gig and they lit the entire stage. My only complaint is that when this came, The foot switch was broken and so was a spare lightbulb, so I sent the footswitch back to Chauvet and they gave me a new one free, so it worked out GREAT!! buy this product. Vorth the money!
