The Chauvet Rave Is a good light for the money. It looks best when used in pairs. The only bad thing I found about the light is replacing the bulb, it is hard to get to. I also recommend using this light with fog it adds more to the effect. The light is lighter being made out of plastic it has advantages and disadvantages. The good thing is less weight on my light rig, the bad thing is it is made out of plastic and could break quicker than metal lights.
I bought this lighting effect because of the low price and I was short on effects. Generally, I was disappointed. The light output was poor. The specs say it is 250w. The included bulb is 150w. Maybe at 250 watts that would be less of a problem. My PAR lights overpowered it. The light pattern is limited. If you do a lot of DJ work, I would not recommend it. It does not seem very robust. The manual says it should operate on a duty cycle of 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off. I have used other lighting effects. Their cases have been metal instead of plastic. They have a continuous duty cycle. True, they are heavier, but that is a trade-off. They also cost more, but that is a trade-off too.The power jack is labelled 115vac. The specs say it is 115 or 230. I need 230. The manual mentions a ?220/110v switch? a couple of times. I could not see or find such a switch. I did not want to blow it up, so had to carry a transformer.
Rave 250 shooting star effect has one 150 watt bulb, it is plastic, cheap, light weight, light duty, disappointing, I am planning to send it back. Spend a little more and buy better quality and performance. The photo in the description is correct, the lights on floor form an "X" and don't move they "pulse" on and off. Look at the picture: take your finger and cover the beams of light leaving the light effect on the floor, blink your eyes to a beat -that's what you get...BORING! cheers.
I have one of these on our bands light rack, its really cool with fog, and it can get a little crazy in a small to medium bar later in the night during the 3rd or 4th set dance party. One works well, but I bet 2 would be awesome.
