I owned four Intimidator 1.2s for a few months. After using them for one gig, I decided to sell them. They are not worth your money. Their light output SIGNIFICANTLY less than any other 250w scanner I have ever used. Two of them required repair within 8 hours of use (probably due to excess heat, as these get way too hot). Being a DJ and theatrical light designer, I need bright, reliable units, and these are anything but that. Physical construction is too compact to make a good scanner. Go with something bigger, compact is not always good.
I bought one of these to see if it was worth it before I bought three more, and I'm glad I only bought one! I liked the size because mine was only 13.75" tall, but it wasn't bright, and the stand-alone FX suck. Although it has the brighter ELC bulb, these aren't any brighter than my scanners with EFR bulbs in them, and that's because of the size. It's too compact, and the bulb is right up to the gobo/color lens, blocking over half the light that it should be giving off and turning it into heat. Within 30 seconds of use this thing is hot enough to cook stuff on! I recommend the Intimidator or Insignia 2.0's. They're bigger, but more space = more light and less heat. If you're looking for good stand-alone mode scanners, get the 1.0's. These are only good in DMX mode. The 2.0's are good in either mode.
These lights have a good possibility, They do a lot of neat things, but... They aren't very dependable. We bought 7 for our band, and in 1 month, we've had to return three, for replacement. Not good odds for a new working band, trying to get started on the right foot. I'd recommend finding something else, maybe spend the extra bucks for a better product.
