Comments about Chauvet EZWedge:
A very versatile, inexpensive, and easy to use fixture that has, so far, served us well as an additional lighting offering to provide for our clients.
Easily used as a standalone fixture with the included IR remote to set both preset and custom colors (these are RGB fixtures, so you don't have that additional fourth channel white or Amber to further fine tune color temps, but at this price and for this purpose, I haven't missed it.). These can also be used as DMX fixtures, easily inserted into your chain for use as part of an existing stage lighting system with either a standard 3 or custom 8 channel DMX profile. the remote also provides access to strobe functions, dimming, some auto programs, and sound activated options, but, as I use these mainly as an uplights in a wedding hall or event hall, I pretty much just set a color and leave them be.
the beam angle is rather small here (perfect for uplighting very specific features in a room, but definitely not wide washes) , given the battery powered nature and size of these, higher powered and wider throw LEDS would deplete battery life quickly and cost more for similar runtime... (You can step up to other units from chauvet that will give you wider beam angle, RGBA, etc, but also in larger packages)
my only negative about the fixture is not about the fixture itself, but about company support. I received a fixture with a remote that wasn't working properly (half the buttons were doing anything). i called chauvet support multiple times, never got a human, left messages with my issue (which, I guess, because the remotes are so simple to use, they thought I must be a dummy because i couldn't get mine to work right) only to discover the circuit board inside the remote was cracked in multiple places. that would do it every time! i had purchased only a single fixture to begin with, to see if they'd suit my purposes, so I didn't have any extra remotes to try at the time. now that I have purchased 16 of these, I have plenty extra remotes... , had the fixture itself not proven to be very well built, I would've passed on it because I have no faith in ever getting a call back from Chauvet if something goes wrong. great product, lousy lousy customer support.
