I bought one of these for my garage-yes I know, my garage-I needed a cheap way to light the place when we have parties in there. (Its been converted into a media center). I bought the "buy one get one free" pinspots and the Mot 2 motor. It worked great. But the tiles were gunked with glue and made it less shiny. Some even fell off! but after scraping it with a razor blade, it worked great. Great buy for the value.
I ordered one of these and the Chauvet MOT-2 2RPM Mirror Ball Motor for a show my band played on New Year's Eve. I hung the motor on the end of a light stand and shot one PAR 36 pin spot at it from about 12 feet away, creating an excellent sparkle effect on the wall. At first I thought an 8" mirror ball wouldn't give off that much sparkle and motion but it worked great in the corner of our stage. If I had shined at least one more pin on it I'm sure it would've lit up the room too. The reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is because a couple of the little mirrors were loose right out of the box and a couple of others looked gunky with glue. Other than that it was great.Think I'll upgrade to a 12" ball next time.
