Enhanced Features

Efficient Sampling
Samples can be set and stored in any of 4 banks with the simple touch of a button. Samples can be trimmed and edited with the graphical user interface, and the samples pitch can be altered.

DSP Effects
The effects module gives the user an array of 12 effects (including Filter, Flanger, Echo, Delay, Auto-Pan, and more) to choose from as well as truly comprehensive parameter setting capabilities. The HDTT-5000 allows users to edit each parameter in real time offering a more in-depth ability to modify the sound while still preserving the simplicity of the preset.

Comprehensive Realtime Looping
Up to 4 loops can be programmed with a loop-editing feature that allows points to be imported from saved hot cue points. Unlike a traditional CD player, the loops can be edited easily using the HDTT-5000's graphical user interface, which allows the loop to be trimmed until it sounds perfect. Loops may be beat sync'ed as well—the user has the option of selecting 1/2/4/8/16 beat loops, as well as user-selectable time frames.

Cue Point Management
Cue points can be set like a normal CD player, so that the DJ can return to a certain time in the track just by pressing a button. The HDTT-5000 unit allows for 4 hot cue points, allowing the user to advance to a certain point in a song without any pause in playback, and can be used along with loops for live remixing.

Main Playback Screen
The backlit graphical LCD playback screens display info on any track in the catalog, showing everything from the essentials such as artist, track title, pitch, time elapsed/remaining to detailed information including file format (MP3 or WAV), genre, and track length. Additionally, the HDTT-5000 offers a waveform view that helps the club DJ see where the beat comes in and at what point to segue into the next track playing.

Touch-Sensitive Digital Turntable Platter
Get the sound and feel of vinyl while preserving the convenience of digital formats. The HDTT-5000's large, touch-sensitive platter allows you to cue or scratch your track while rotating the wheel in either direction.

Auto-BPM Counter
Automatically track your song's beats per minute.

Master Tempo
Master Tempo locks in the pitch of the track, even when you change the speed up or down, ensuring no noticeable difference in how the vocals or instruments sound.

Key Adjust
Key Adjust allows users to adjust the key of a track without changing speed.

Instant Reverse
Instant Reverse is controlled by merely pressing a button on the face of the HDTT unit with no loss of tempo or pitch.

Master/Slave Link
Easily link 2 Cortex HDTT units together to access one USB-compatible storage device for dual turntable performance.

Playlist Editing
The playlist editor allows users to save, load, and edit their own playlists. This is advantageous for unattended playback or for mobile entertainers who have certain playlists in place for standard events.

Storage Device Selection
Take that new digital promo or just-finished song from your iPod or USB memory flash drive and play it tonight! With 5 USB ports (and support for a total of up to 4 devices, one per port or 4 to a USB hub), the HDTT's device selection option allows users to connect and recognize multiple storage devices, offering the flexibility to access a variety of separate music databases simultaneously.

No manual necessary

Comments about Cortex HDTT-5000 Digital Music Turntable Controller:

With mp3s on the rise and the downfall of cd's coming slowly, this is a product you can't pass up. This machine is literally the first out-of-the-box device that I found that required no reading to use. The machine pretty much tells you how it is supposed to be worked. It's fun and easy!

A Few Pointers

By Guitarist - Closest Open Window

Comments about Cortex HDTT-5000 Digital Music Turntable Controller:

I just received both of my Cortex HDTT-5000 units and spent some time getting familiar with them. I want to provide you with some key points that may help you decide whether these units are right for you. * Master/Slave capability is nice. You're able to use just one storage device for your music database. The downfall to this is that the slave unit accesses the storage device slower than the master unit. If that bugs you, you can set both to master and use two separate storage devices. *The jog-wheel feels different on both of my units. One is loose and the other is tight. I've heard this from other Cortex users, so I sense it's a gamble whether you'll experience the same thing. *Scratching on the HDT-5000 sounds great, but on one of the units, fast scratching tends to "skip over grooves" like a vinyl turntable with a sub-par needle. I believe it's a per-unit manufacturing fault. Another gamble. *The HDTT-5000 feels a little cheap, the unit being very light but are sturdy, the buttons being plastic and "clicking" loudly. The biggest problem I have with this is the pitch slider feeling cheap. Although, it is accurate and you see the pitch modifications on the screen.*You can change tempo and key independently of one another, but if you're using low quality MP3's then changing the key won't sound great beyond about 3 half steps. *The units are highly configurable and have an intuitive layout. Also, most of the music search options rely on ID3 tags, but any MP3's you have on your storage device that do not have ID3 tags will have to be found using the file browser, which is only a downfall if your music isn't organized well.*Overall, these units are of a good value for the price. They offer more versatility than other players in the same price range. Simply not having to lug around CD's is a huge plus. *Unfortunately, one of my units died after about 10 minutes of use so I'm sending it back to Cortex be replaced. The customer support seems helpful and eager to please. Good luck in your purchases!

good piece of equipment

Comments about Cortex HDTT-5000 Digital Music Turntable Controller:

My first digital turntable and so far I love it. A lot of people have issues with pressure sensitivity for scratching, and honestly I havent had any. Only things I can say I dont like is editing effect settings is a bit tricky if your playing live. I feel you have to focus more on that than the music if your trying to achieve a certain sound. Also loading a song for the first time wont play right away because its making a wav form to display on the LCD screen. But you can by pass it by pressing a button so its not horrible.
