Comments about Crown X1000 Stereo 2x300W Power Amp:

Easy set up. I bought speakon to 1/4 adapters for output to speakers and XLR for input from my mixer.

I just got it a few hours ago but I have been using it ever since I brought home. the Amp is noiseless. I love the fact that there are detents in the volume knobs as it makes it easy to match both channels(four clicks and it's on the first dot on the volume scale) If that is "volume setting one" then I don't need to go much louder in my small home studio.

Sound reproduction is perfect. I am using an iPad with Amplitube and Garage Band. iPad lined out to the mixer and on to the Crown power amp. From there I go into two 2x10 cabs in stereo.

I was hesitant to buy this due to the low price and the addage, "you get what you pay for". I was wrong. This amp was bargain and I got my money's worth and more.

I am happy I bought it and it brings new life to my studio.

Comments about Crown X1000 Stereo 2x300W Power Amp:

I purchased this to backup my various home and DJ systems. Was I in for a surprise!! Exceptional quality for an incredible sales price! The sound was incredible!! Soundstage was wide, deep, and detailed!! The power was incredible. I could only turn the amp up to 9:00 using an I-Pod classic and Paradigm home audio speakers!! This amp will easily power my Sony DJ speakers or anything else I could throw at it. Only draw backs are the 28 lbs. weight, slight fan noise, and the unusual speaker hookups. Banana pins have vertical hookups. This would make use on a rack mount more difficult unless you are using phono plugs. These are only small issues. Go buy this great amp at an incredible price and enjoy the music.

Comments about Crown X1000 Stereo 2x300W Power Amp:

This amp is the Bomb! For the money it can't be beat. This mama is HEAVY! (Heavy and groovy if you please.)
My only beef is that one of the binding post connectors would not allow the banana plug to be inserted fully. With a little gentle persuasion and the 'ole stink eye I got it to cooperate.
Cooling fans are very quite. Sound is clear, clean and powerful. Quite impressive!

This is the baby in the family. It's older brother (X4000) I'm sure would melt your face if you ever got in front of the speakers. But this amp would be great for small gigs or a DJ. This amp would also be great for monitors in a bigger stage set-up.

If you can live with the limited input choices and it's heavy weight this baby is for you. Sale price, power, Crown quality. It's a trifecta of sonic bliss.

This gets a 4 1/2 out of 5 on the banger scale. (Only losing 1/2 bang for the weight). Yes Martha...it's that good!

(I think I'll buy another one!)

Comments about Crown X1000 Stereo 2x300W Power Amp:

At the current sale price (July 2014), this is a fantastic buy on an entry-level Crown power amp. As far as I can tell, the X 1000 is identical to the Crown XLi 800. For some reason, Crown has apparently re-branded the XLi 800. In any case, the X series amps, like the XLi and XLS series, are old school power amps. Gigantic toroidal power transformers (fastened to the top of the case with a big bolt), big capacitors, big heat sinks, and thick steel cases. The robust construction is reflected in the amps' weight. Unlike the newer Class D amps made by Crown, these babies are big and heavy. If they are anything like the XLS series amps, they will also be nearly bullet-proof. Bear in mind, however, that this series does not come with Crown's no-fault 3-year warranty.

Right to the point I thought I could be cheap and buy an untested brand based on price. Should have known. Switching to Crown and telling some tech friends I got good reviews from them and so far so good. I have gigs comig up and through it`s paces my new Crown X1000 2X300 power amp will go.

Comments about Crown X1000 Stereo 2x300W Power Amp:

First, I am using it to power my guitar amp modeling unit, so I am not experienced as a DJ or live sound equipment per se.

The first thing I learned is NEEDS some sort of preamp. If you try to run anything direct, you can turn the knobs to 10 and it will still be fairly low volume. This may not be a surprise to some, but it was for me.

Once I connected the Amp Modeler (behringer V-amp pro) it was quite different. I could barely get past 2 before it was deafening. I knew it was rated at 300 watts, but I also know amp manufacturers really love to fudge those specs to make their stuff look better. That does not seem to be the case here. I can set my speakers to either 4 or 16 ohms. I figured I would go with 16 since this is just a small personal jam room and I would be good, which it was, but, very surprising, not nearly the drop off you would expect. I don't have the capacity to test for output, but, to my ears, the ratings on this amp are legit.

Let me say this, IT WEIGHS A TON!!!. Not really, but not the best to be lugging around. 28 lbs or so. But that is fine because it is in a rack that will stay put. Along with that though it is solid and metal, very little plastic.

Can't say much more because it is new and barely used yet. I hesitate to give it a 5 star because of that. Maybe in a year I will come back and change that.

Comments about Crown X1000 Stereo 2x300W Power Amp:

I use this amp in my analog only set-up. Stanton turntable, Musical Fidelity X-Pre and X-10D tube pre-amp and buffer stages. Audioquest interconnects. This amp replaces a pair of Antique Sound Lab Wave-8 monoblock tube amps. I simply needed more power and this price seemed right and Crown's reputation was a selling point. First off, I do miss the "warmth" of the tubes in the monoblocks. I originally installed the Crown directly from the phono preamp of the Stanton. VERY clean sound. Some would prefer this set-up, but it was just a tad too "steely" for me as I prefer the sound of tubes, especially when listening to vinyl. Thus the use of the tube preamp (though not necessary given the Crown's volume/output controls.) I feel a good compromise was reached. I get audiophile quality sound even at very high volume levels. I have only had the amp in my system about a month so I cannot attest to it's dependablity or durability but it's sound quality is remarkable for it's price range. Very similar to my Audiosource Amp-2 but more powerful. Slightly less warm and a bit more bass shy than the Audiosource.
