I used to run some fairly conservatively rated, but powerful, home theater amps (speakercraft BB275) in conjunction with a pair of behringer vp2520s for live performances, but this amp really thunders. After having used a few XLS series crowns I really wasn't impressed with crowns when a 75WPC amp could grossly outperform an XLS1500, or even a behringer EP AND EPX4000 using the same configuration. However, this amp has me impressed. It definitely feels like it puts out what it's rated, rather than some large impressive number. Even at the floor shaking levels I run, it hasn't even clipped or shown any hint of distortion beyond what's in the source material. I may buy another to drive my subs and leave the other amps for monitor use.

Died at the first two "testing...1 2 3"....checks.....I looked first at my mixer connections...all ok...then I turned to my new Crown amp.....no "red indicator" so assumed it was ok.....checked eq, limiter, and speaker wires....all were ok.....re powered the system and the amp came up working....during the show left n right sides were intermittently going in and out.....I pulled the Crown out and put my trusted Carvin DCM2000 back in and the show was saved....sending this Crown back!

Comments about Crown X2000 Stereo 2x450W Power Amp:

I would consider this an introductory amp so if you are not familiar with them and don't want to spend a lot, to try it out this is the one for you. For the price you can't beat i,t easy to setup and use. I run two seperate monitors with the power amp so I had to also buy cables that were TRS 1/4 in to male XLR fairly inexpensive but made a world of difference on our on stage sound

Comments about Crown X2000 Stereo 2x450W Power Amp:

I've listened to it a bit to make sure it works as it should but I haven't pushed it very hard yet. The fans are nice and quiet, unlike a weaker Pyle amp I have which has a very loud fan. It sure is heavy! I don't doubt that it's as powerful as claimed, but how can a 450 watt per channel amp only draw the 400 watts specified on the tag unless it's some kind of overunity/free energy device?

Comments about Crown X2000 Stereo 2x450W Power Amp:

This is something of a preliminary review, as I have only recently added this power amp to my studio. However, so far I'm very pleased. The documentation is brief but adequate, and the setup is simple. The sound is very good, with lots and lots of headroom. My only slightly negative comment is that the rack-mount ears bent a little when I was unpacking the amp. I take some of the blame for that, but chalk it up to inexperience with the product. However, since I'm using mine as a tabletop unit, I don't worry too much about the ears. By the way, this amp comes with four self-adhesive rubber feet for tabletop use--smart! The cooling fans are extremely quiet. I've seen other reviewers mention the lack of variety in input-output connectors, but if you're buying this amp, it makes sense to also buy factory-made cables that have the right kinds of connectors, so that's not an issue with me.
