Good product. I am impressed with the light weight. The fan has variable speed. At low volume you can not hear it. After listening to music at high volume over time, the fan does come on but quickly slows after the volume is reduced. The volume control knobs have notched points so you can count the clicks to make sure both channels are set at the same setting. It has typical red and green lights to for signals clip and fault states. It does not have inputs. It takes a few seconds to fully turn on and have power sent to speakers. The good thing about this is that there is no pop from the speakers when you turn the amp on. Some will find the DSP useful. If you figure in the cost for a crossover, equalizer, and time delay options are all built in, you may be able to justify a few hundred dollars more for this amp rather than another product. I just needed a power amp and could have done without this feature, but I wanted this one because of the crown reputation, specs and power output. The DSP can be tricky to setup. You start with one setting and have to click your way forward using the select button to finish. The two other buttons toggle you through the options. I use it to power an eminence Kilomax 18 inch sub. I instantly noticed a sound improvement when I swapped to this amp. The bass is tighter with more controlled cone movement. I had been using another well known brand that I have had for 9 years without any fault. Hopefully this amp will last as long.

I own 3 of these. Currently 2 of them are in the shop. One goes into clipping with a 2 Ohm load when driven close to capacity, although it worked fine with 2 ohms previously. The other went out COMPLETELY. I DJ'd for a wedding on Friday night and it worked perfectly, as usual. I DJ'd for another wedding the next night on Saturday, and it was completely DEAD!... no lights, no nothing. The fuse is apparently located inside the amp and is unaccessable to users... good idea, huh? It failed completely. I trusted Crown's reliability history without first reading all the comments (complaints) about its apparent unreliability since Harmon Kardon bought Crown. This was the first time in 7 years that a power amp failed right before a performance... or at all, for that fact. I used QSC 3402's before, 4 of them, and NEVER had trouble. I switched to Crown to save weight and keep the same power rating... but now regret doing so. I didn't have a back-up power amp with me and the wedding was out-of-town. I had to scrounge one from a local night club owner to start the music for the wedding... one hour late. I had a second wedding booked with the same client... she cancelled the second one due to my failure... and Crown's. So, in summary, if you want to run your own repair shop, buy one of these new XTI's... you'll be sending it in for repairs and feel like a true repairman instead of a performer! If you don't believe me, buy two, not one... because you will need to carry a spare AT ALL TIMES!

        Clean Light Weight Power

Comments about Crown XTI 4000 Power Amplifier:

Two of these look great in our amp rack along with two other heavy pro amps. Our tops are clean and clear while our subs pound with authority. Wish our budget could replace those as well!
We have two of these in our amplifier rack. They replaced two other heavy power amps that we were happy with but wanted to shave weight off the amp rack. I've been very impressed with their power and sound. Plenty of headroom, strapped or in stereo mode.
The monostrapped XTi 4000 we had on our subs gave out one night at a gig after 9 months of pounding our subs. We swapped in one of our large monitor amps and were up and running again. Sent the XTi in for repair under warranty and got it back in 4 weeks only because initially they were waiting for new ones to arrive that were delayed. I'd give it a 10 if it would not have failed but these things happen, its electronics.
Bang for the buck, ease of use, built in crossover which we don't use but could in a pinch, light weight. Great amp! Get these close outs while you can!

        Good Affordable Amp

        By Union Jack

        from Wisconsin

Comments about Crown XTI 4000 Power Amplifier:

I've had this amp for about a year, and its little brother (xti1000) for almost 3 years, and I am now purchasing one more of these. That said, these amps pound. An amp should be 'transparent' and not color the sound. These amps are crystal clear. Their versatility is incredible, and even if you don't trust the dsp, you can run them as normal amps, and even throw on the limiter for protection. I've had no dead amp problems to date, but that doesn't mean there won't be lemons. If you can afford to get the I-Tech series, do it. But for the rest of us with shallow pockets, these amps work quite well and won't break your back lifting them.

        chrome don't get you home

Comments about Crown XTI 4000 Power Amplifier:

I really admire the older Crown macro series. 2 beefy transformers with real output transistors and rock solid reliability. The problem is they are heavy back bruising amps that give chiropractors work. These new 17 pound amps are great for those that have to move their equipment alot. The problem is these new amps are not better sounding and the reliability is washed away with the integrated digital features that will eventually require extra repair and frustration for the owners. Crown turn my frown around and make real amps again while sticking to a lighter weight design.

I bought two of these in 2009! I love them. I have the two of them in a SKB 6 space case with a Furman Rack Rider. This is a great setup! I can run 2 monitor mixes off of one and the 2 15" mains and 2 18" subs off of the other. Light, compact and solid! Plenty of power!

Comments about Crown XTI 4000 Power Amplifier:

Very light weight amp perfect for the mobile sound industry. I am very impress with the new technology inserted into this amp! i use my Crown XTi 4000 to power 4 Cerwin Vega's no problem. The crossover is to die for, Just run amp straight to your mixer and you're ready to go. You can really tell the difference from any other amp i've own. I've used QSC, Peavey, Behringer, Mackie and Crest, but Crown has never let me down. Can't believe unit can produce this much power to my subs. I am very confident in this product and will continue to purchase Crown's quality equipment.

        Excellent Amps

        By Dlindz

        from Florida

Comments about Crown XTI 4000 Power Amplifier:

I own two XTI 4000s. I've used these for going on three years now, and these are excellent amps. These solved a major problem by giving us the power we needed without the heavy amperage draw that caused us to trip breakers. They are lightweight, very powerful and sound great. Our sound tech loves them. The DSP for subsynth setting works well, and we use one of the amps to push two SRX728s (Dual 18 cabs). We noticed immediately the difference in clarity. The bass was nice, tight, and deep. Same across the board with the remaining PA. Overall 5 stars...

Comments about Crown XTI 4000 Power Amplifier:

Used this amp for my band. I replaced a couple older style Crowns with it. I wanted something to push my mains and my subs together (for small and medium venues). I was a little leary of using the built in bridge, but it works perfectly. I emailed Crown and one of their techs emailed me with instructions on how I should set everything up the way I want it.So not only do you get a high quality amp, but Crown gives you great support when you need it.

Sweet, clean and powerful. The digital process is tricky. Love the look size and weight of the amp. The price is better than Crest or QSC for this level amp. Love the feature of the compressor which protect the speaker. Highly recommend this amp.
