Ear cups too small...

By Vipervette-X.9m1

Comments about Denon DN-HP500 - Professional DJ Headphones:

Can't comment on the full sound spectrum of these headphones. They are uncomfortable to wear and therefor you cannot experience the sound with an objective ear. I purchased 2 sets for the "deal of the day" $19.99 price. They are better than ear buds by far. But for kicking back and listening to a song or nice piece of music, no, not at all. I will be donating them to my local elementary school for K and 1st graders to use. Thats about the size of the ear cups.

Very Good Performance/Value for the price

Comments about Denon DN-HP500 - Professional DJ Headphones:

These Denon's won't fit everyone or I'd give them a 10 - they fit me & I'd buy another pair in an instant if I ever needed them
The Denon DJs fit narrower heads -- being both an over the ear design + designed to block external sounds [which they do surprisingly well], they apply a bit of pressure that I'm sure could be uncomfortable if your head was wider... for me they're just on the verge of being too loose. The end of the cable is coiled, & with the heavier weight cable used, they can feel like they're pulling your head slightly down to one side -- I had thought I'd prefer the coiled cable over the hassles from the cable being too long, & I was wrong. The swiveling heads are nice, but moving so freely I haven't found any advantage to the Denon's folding -- they don't stay folded in your bag. The DJ's don't require a lot of extra power, & both a pro & con, depending on what you're after, they do not color the sound, don't emphasize the highs or lows.
Build quality is decent for this price range, but I'm pretty sure they'd wind up breaking from continual rough use -- not a prob. for me as I'm the only one using them. While reviews are a bit harder to find -- the Denon DJs aren't as well known as most competing brands/models -- everything I've read plus the results of comparisons we've done put these Denons at the top of the scale for accurate sound reproduction in this price range.
I wanted to get as close as I could to top, studio-reference sound quality at less than 1/2 the price -- these Denons fill the bill. Yes you can hear the difference -- the Denons are very close but not quite there -- but is it worth 2X the price? IMO no.
