OVERVIEW

The spinning active platter design taken to a whole new level.

The DN-S3500 tabletop CD/MP3 player lets you perform freely as if you were using a real vinyl turntable thanks to its powerful 12-pole direct-drive brushless motor that delivers instant full rotation speed with a powerful 2.5kg/cm of startup torque within 0.5 seconds. Also, it comes with a spindle to tweak the pitch. Platter speeds are selectable from 33.3 or 45rpm.

This player is loaded with 7 onboard effects, including flanger, filter (high-mid-low), echo, and the world's first echo/loop with a dry/wet mix knob, plus 3 platter effects: brake (adjustable in real time), dump (reverse sound without losing true forward time), and reverse (platter spins backwards).

Also features full MP3 support with seamless looping with B point trim; MP3 hot starts; frame search; memo to save your cue points and loops; support for C.B.R. and V.B.R. decoding up to 320kbps; ID3 tags to display title, artist, and album; ID3 BPM tag (automatically recalls the BPM); and an MP3 file search system that allows you to easily locate files by name or folder.

Now you can play files from the same disc back to back with the DN-S3500's next track reserve function with crossfade. You can search for a song by name without interrupting playback and crossfade seamlessly to that file for a smooth, nonstop mix. This player also lets you easily copy your perfect CD/MP3 seamless loop over to the sampler, even while it's playing. Get creative by exchanging your disc during sample playback, performing CD scratch overlays with the sampler, and many more cool tricks.

The DN-S3500 features a 2-way cue search system that supports traditional Denon cueing method as well as Pioneer's for whatever style you prefer. For DJs who perform long mixes, the DN-S3500 offers .02% for the 4% pitch range and .05% for the 10% pitch range. 2 hot starts can be made on the fly and easily turned into seamless loops or used as stutter points.

This advanced player also features adjustable loop end point B trim, CD TEXT support, key adjust to keep music sounding true when track speed is adjusted, quick-loading slot-in drive, 2-way platter mode to scratch the CD source or the stored sample by the touch of a button with the active spinning platter, and a directional scratch lever to perform the same cuts as if you were using a mixer's crossfader. The 15-second sampler lets you sample any part of your CD/MP3 tracks on the fly and perform scratch overlays or even simple playback with full platter control and ±24% pitch control, B-trim, sampler volume, 4-way playback (loop/single/all/stutter)

I love denon products. But I was very disappointed with this one. First these units get very hot after a short time. It will start to go crazy on you when in use for a long time and is heating up! The pitch slider will start to stick on you at some point. Product is made with to much plastic. Not built for the long hall. Especially not made for any outdoor use. Good effects & features. Good sound. I should of stuck with denons dual cd players. Such as the DN9000, best player ever made for cd's not for mp3 playing. Bad investment. My advice stick to the less priced poineers. Better quality and built to last. Sorry denon didn't live up to your reputation not with this product.

The Dn-S3500 has a problem with the pitch and platte speeding up, and Denon has not resolved the issue. It occurs after at the least a few months usage. See denondjforums under DN-S3500 and djforums under Turntables/Cd Players.Denon sends back the units unfixed, and the replacement units eventually develop the same issue. The unit will work great initially, but it will fail within a short space of time and you will not be able to get it fixed.Denon provides unhelpful and often times very rude customer service. They have forgotten how to treat their customers, and how to make quality products. check those forums to see all the people with the same issues and how Denon responds. The units o[erating system also needs contant revision due to poor programming and bugs. If you buy it you will be an unpaid beta tester.

Innovative, BUT Needs Improvements....

By DJ Havok

from San Jose, California

Spinning platter is great for scratching but unfortunately for mixing, it is NOT even close to a Technic 1200. The platter is way too sensitive to the touch for accurate pitch bending, you must use the fader or the pitch bend buttons. Searching through a song takes a little while and can be fustrating. The 3500 takes a little while to get use to but it can easily be done with a little patience and practice. Tons of features on this monster so set aside some time to read the manual - too complicated to just walk up and use features effectively. Unit build construction is nice and solid like you would expect from Denon except they forget something extremely important, external heatsink or fan. Runs real HOT after using about 1 hour! When the 3500 gets too hot internally it freaks the pitch out of control. Buy a fan to keep it cool and everything will work properly. Give Denon some credit for at least trying, everyone else is just using stationary platters.

THIS IS ONE SERIOUS MACHINE

By Anonymous

Well at first I bought the dn-s1000 but it had no spinning platter and I couldnt scratch on it like a turntable so I decided to upgrade it and took it back and added the difference for the 3500. Best move I ever made. I love this thing! The effects are sick, you can manipulate and have fun with cd's all day and it really does sound like a turntable the 12 pole direct drive platter is no joke. Highly recommend this product, Denon even has updates that you can burn from your computer on to a disk then install them in your 3500. Denon is no joke. Go buy this now. If your really into cutting up the 3500 is the way to go. I zone out on this thing all day.

Only a fool would buy Pioneer over these.

Why pay twice as much for CDJ-800s or 1000s when you can get a deck with more features, true vinyl emulation, a motorized platter, etc?Ever since the update, these things have ruled. I have several Pioneer-owning friends who regularly play around with my 3500s. One of them even went so far as to sell his CDJ-1000s to buy a pair of these and a new mixer. He hasn't regretted it.

DENON IS STEPPIN UP

By Braddah Steve

from Hawaii

These tables are awesome!!! I've owned them for 2 years taking them with me to gigs at least 3 times a month, more during the summer, and they never gave me problems. I've been using Serato for about a year and with the November update Denon did with Rane, the response is killer and there is hardly any slippage. 2 Denon S3500 + 1 Denon X1500S + Serato = Heaven

The Best CD Turntables out there

By DJ Phrantik

from Miami

I have been using these for 3 years and I have never had a single problem. I run them with Traktor Scratch and they are amazing. Take the clip off the platter and use tape or a rubber washer and they will feel as close real vinyl turntables as you can get. No other CD Turntable could offer both an accurate vinyl feel, an array of features, and great quality.
