Great little wireless and still cheap enough to let someone else handle it without worry. Works great most of the time but it seems to drop out badly near wireless routers for computers(?). I don't understand it but it seems to really hate routers. 100 feet range with clear line of sight but you will notice some delay at about 40 feet not a problem for speech but it will drive a singer insane. If you want a long range wireless for lead vocals save up. Speed and reliability are not a cheap combo, but if you stay within 30 feet of your antenna and keep it away from amps and speakers you will get your money's worth of use, and then some.

This microphone System drops out every time I have used it and I really don't understand selling something that will not work properly. I have used 2 different 1600 mic systems and they both did the same I think this is a very bad investment and it makes me scared to buy other audio technica products. You need to use this and find out for yourself, but it takes doing a performance because it may go 5 to 10 minutes before it drops out or it may drop out every few seconds and this is annoying when this happens and distracts from what you are trying to accomplish. I have used many mics through the years this is the worst I ever used. I admit, when it works right the sound is acceptable, but I would never buy another. I own a shure now and have owned a Nady and used many all over at diferent churches but this has been my worst experience with wireless products.

    JUNK

    By sjarvis

    from Mondovi, WI

Comments about Digital Reference DR-1600 Dynamic Handheld Wireless Microphone System:

Junk, absolute, complete junk. Horrible interference, If I could get the thing to work at all would be nice. I have been doing karaoke for 9 years. Wanted to pic up an extra wireless for one of my systems and thought this sounded like a great deal. Horrible mic! Do yourself a favor, spend a little more money and get a decent UHF mic. Avoid the hassle of having to return this!

    E Sounds

Comments about Digital Reference DR-1600 Dynamic Handheld Wireless Microphone System:

Beware. This is the worst wireless microphone I have ever come in contact with. It drops out whenever it wants to, you cannot place it within 10ft. of any electrical device. Not even a pacemaker. It feels cheap, it gives feedback problems. There is a popping sound (Static) that sounds like a bomb went of in the sanctuary. I received this microphone as a gift and I should of used it as a paperweight instead of giving it a chance. Oh and I almost forgot, it sounds terrible. If you haven't gotten the point. DO NOT PURChASE THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!!

    Review

Comments about Digital Reference DR-1600 Dynamic Handheld Wireless Microphone System:

The mic proved to be somewhat flimsy. Mine broke after a short time (right in the middle of a comedy routine-very embarassing, to say the least). Not very durable construction. When it was working, there seemed to be a hum I couldn't get rid of. Verified it was the mic by trying it on other moblie rig systems. Overall, save the money and purchase something a little more high end

    Too many pops

    By LividLiquid

    from Seattle, Wa

Comments about Digital Reference DR-1600 Dynamic Handheld Wireless Microphone System:

I purchased this mic last year for a Karaoke business, and only run it in small venues. Its first major problem is that rather than putting out no sound when there's no signal, it puts out loud static. VERY loud static.Secondly, whenever a cellular phone is near the transmitter, the signal will drop out, resulting in loud pops.

    GOOD MIC

    By Anonymous

Comments about Digital Reference DR-1600 Dynamic Handheld Wireless Microphone System:

This mic is one of the best purchases i've made as far as audio equipment goes. My dj company bought a more expensive UHF wireless mic, and it's not nearly the mic that the 1600 VHF is. I used the mic in my high school gym, which is more than 100 feet long, i even went out the door, with little breakup at all. I would recommend this mic to anyone on a tight, or even extensive, budget.

    Just Junk

    By Ace S. Whyld-3NsEy

Comments about Digital Reference DR-1600 Dynamic Handheld Wireless Microphone System:

Bought this mic when my Sampson wireless took a nasty fall, and the cost to fix it was too much. Thought it would be an okay get me by till I found something better. Should have just set the money on fire. Signal drop out, lousy sound, feed back problems, and just the fact it feels like it will break if you look at it wrong. It's just junk!

    DR1600 ROCKS!

Comments about Digital Reference DR-1600 Dynamic Handheld Wireless Microphone System:

I purchased the Audio Technica dr1600 at Guitar Center a week ago and use it for my acoustic shows. This mic was A LOT clearer than the wired mic that I have been using. The price on this unit does not reflect the quality, thats for sure. Great unit, affordable price...cant beat it.
