I?ll attempt a comprehensive review that will, hopefully, offer consumers some concrete information to consider when buying.Pros:1) Offers features that can expand and improve the sound of a solo singer/ guitarist.2) Harmony ?patches? as well as ?Part A/B? foot switch are helpful and easy to use.3) ?Pitch correction? is somewhat helpful, but makes the voice sound overly processed if turned up too much.4) ?Humanize? control can help make the harmony sound much more life-like, (actually lets you set the amount of delay in the harmony).5) ?Gender? control is a useful feature ?Voicing? sounds okay if you don?t exceed the ?high? setting (above) and the ?low" setting (below). If you set it more than one third above or below, it sounds overly processed and fake.6) You must be able to sing mostly on pitch (even with ?pitch correction? engaged), or the harmonizer will produce incorrect notes.7) This system does a decent job of ?reading? your guitar if you stick primarily to major and minor chords. If you try to use more complicated chords system will sometimes produce incorrect harmony notes.8) The system works best while strumming the guitar. If you do much picking, it will sometimes produce incorrect harmony notes.Cons:1) Voice setting of ?higher,? ?octave,? lower? and ?bass? sound so processed they are virtually useless2) I hear no difference when engaging the ?warmth? effect. Maybe because I?m using an old ?tube? type PA??3) Watch your speaker placement, or the system will pick up the guitar signal from your amp and create slight fuzziness and distortion on the guitar sound4) See limitations above describe under ?Pros?-- #6, #7, #8..Conclusion:If you go light on the effects, use it for primarily uncomplicated songs, and are willing to limit the amount of picking (as opposed to strumming) you do, this system can offer some useful improvements to your over all sound. Buy it from a vendor that will let you return it if unsatisfied, and don?t expect miracles. Overall, however, I?m glad I bought it and I?d definitely buy it again. I hope those of you considering buying this pedal will find this information useful.

I have used the Vocalist 2 for the last couple years. And it sounds great! It was very easy to get the mix I desired. But it sang its last song on New Years Eve in the middle of the gig. I was very excited about getting the new upgraded Vocalist 3. I have had it for about a month now. And I kept telling myself it must be something I have adjusted wrong? But I spent hours and hours adjusting everything in it every way it can be adjusted. And still no matter what I do,it sounds like an off key backup singer and feeds back whenever I hit the harmony button.Unless my mic is so low you can`t hear it. Never had this problem with the Vocalist 2. I absolutly hate this crapy pedal! I am for sure going to get rid of it and find another Vocalist Live 2. And this time I`ll buy 2 of them in case after a couple years it also breaks. Now that they have discontinued the V2 I don`t even want to think how bad the next upgraded one could be! More knobs and cooler look don`t mean nothing if it don`t sound as good!

Comments about DigiTech Vocalist Live 3 Vocal Harmony Processor Pedal:

This is my second Live 3. The first one I got kept shorting out. This one has been noisy since it came out of the box. I have been using it off and on for a year now. And every since we connected it to our Mackie board, the signal/source light lit up like the channel was getting sound, but it was not. You could push the gains or master on the board and hear the noise, but only minimal at normal levels.

This is disappointing as we have a whisper quite system ... and need such a system.

We have tried different gain combos both on the board and coming off the Vocalist Live 3. Have yet to strike a good balance. Low gain on the Live 3 results in the harmonizer not working well. Low gain on the board results in not enough volumn and vocal headroom.

The unit is pretty impressive, but if you need low noise ... at least with this one that we have, it is kind of a deal breaker.

Comments about DigiTech Vocalist Live 3 Vocal Harmony Processor Pedal:

I have been a professional entertainer for 50 years. I have played in country, folk, and rock bands. I am a harmony freak. Got tired of being in bands where the other vocalists could not sing harmony and when they tried it was usually the same note I was singing or sounded like a hound dog with a sore throat. I bought the Digitec Performer and thought that was good until I heard the Live 3. I bought it when it first hit the market and have used it for a long time, three nights a week every week. It is very easy to use live. I change in and out of harmony many times in a song. My guitarist uses the live 2 and we have to stop so he can make some changes on it. I have replaced the harmony switch but that was minor. Love the unit, could not go back to listening to people trying to sing harmony when they haven't a clue what it is. All of my friends have purchased the Live 3's and love them. Our group is now just a trio because that is all we need.

I was really frustrated when I saw there was no on and off switch. I should have checked first,to see if there was a headphone jack. So no on and off switch, you will have to pull the power chord on and off of the unit and don't plan on using headphones. You will have to have it into your mixer to use the mixers or what you record with, headphone jack.

Comments about DigiTech Vocalist Live 3 Vocal Harmony Processor Pedal:

I am a guitar instructor with several students that sing & play. I bought this to use in my teaching studio & on live gigs when we play (restaurants, benefits, etc.). This unit is very nice; it delivers just as it says. The harmonies are life like, the effects (including guitar effects) work great.

I have not used the pitch correction much (to be honest my students do not need it as they stay on pitch very well). However, I did use the pitch correction on my own pathteic voice & it did work. But, it did not make my voice sound like David Gilmour or anything. In other words, you still have to play the hand you were dealt when it comes to the quality of voice. It did make me sound better, but it did transform me into a singing snsation. But, that is not what it is designed to do (and yes, I knew that when I bought it). I will tell you what it does: it enhances the vocals of someone like my students that can sing well & is like putting icing on a cake. It seems well built, the power supply might be the Achilles heel but time will tell. One thing is for certain, I definitely want this thing present at all the gigs we do. The other evening one of my students came in for her lesson & was greatly disappointed that I had left it at home by mistake. This will be a vocalists best buddy. It is expensive; but worth every penny of it to polish your vocals. Not worth a dime if you have other intentions.

I bought this unit to enhance my solo performances, and it has more than satisfied me, as I have always wanted a vocal back-up that I can depend on. Well, I have it now, and I don't have to drag 2 or 3 singers around with me. An excellent product for me.
I did have one problem with the first unit I purchased, however, a quick trip to my tech guy, and it was better than ever. Thank you Jason.
Over all, if you are a solo performing musician, and need back-up voices, this is the thing for you, and on top of all that, it's your voice that is backing you up.
                    Excellent product.

I use this pedal several times a week as a solo artist and also as a DJ. I use tracks as background and play guitar but my harmonizer overrides any track back up vocals and I like that. Splitting the vocal out and guitar out gives me better control at the mixer as well. The best thing I have found it to loosen up the humanizer so it sounds more real and it is a must have.

Comments about DigiTech Vocalist Live 3 Vocal Harmony Processor Pedal:

I play solo acoustic and harp. I've used the Vocalist Live 3 for eight months now. This is a great harmony background rig. I play small venues, coffee shops, parties etc. It works great when setup right. A couple things I don't like about it however. When Digitech made the Vocalist Live 3 they put in regular stomp-box type button switches to control when harmony vocals are engaged. Unfortunately the button is noisy when going from primary vocal to harmony vocal and back again. The Vocalist 2 had a much quieter pedal type buttons which were so much better! They should go back to using that type of pedal again. Also, on the Vocalist 3 they removed the 1/4" mic output jacks and only provide you with two XLR outputs. That's fine because you get a cleaner vocal signal. The problem is that my XLR female plugs do not fit snug enough in the connections and when I press on the footswitch it's enough to move them and that can make an annoying static or hum type sound. I have to try not to press on the switch very hard. But after a 7-8 songs it comes loose no matter how gentle I am with it. The XLR fittings should be tighter. I tried using tape on the XLR plug ends to make them fit tighter. I would rather they spent more money on things like this then the "Warmth" or "Humanize"contols which I find mostly useless. Overall however, for a one man gig this adds a lot to the vocals.
