Comments about DOD SR835 2-Way or 3-Way Crossover:

I needed a simple crossover to allow me to add a subwoofer to my system. I have a PA system comprised of a pair of Yamaha MSR 250 powered speakers, and an Allen & Heath mixer (and other assorted rack stuff) but I needed to add my subwoofer (Genz Benz cabinet with an 18") and QSC 1450 amp in order to DJ at a friends wedding. The room was a mid size ballroom and the system needed low end. This crossover has a summed low out which makes it convenient to use with one subwoofer. The crossover worked perfectly and didn't take night school to figure out. At this price point I have to give it 5 stars. I just wish it had a light on it to reassure me that the thing is on.

Comments about DOD SR835 2-Way or 3-Way Crossover:

Works quite well for the purpose intended. I had an important secondary use for it. So far, it has been used primarily to (help) determine reasonable crossover frequencies for home built speaker cabinets. After those points have been determined, then passive crossovers can be fabricated or (purchased crossovers) modified to approximately "duplicate" those crossover frequencies and curves. Not a perfect way to make those determinations but.... a good start at getting closer on the first try. Then it is much quicker and easier to then refine the components of the passive device.

Comments about DOD SR835 2-Way or 3-Way Crossover:

I use this in a semi-pro bass rig with a Grand Prix SWR preamp, replacing my old Trace Elliot Series 5 preamp. Great X-over, fills the need, just wish the frequency would go below 100 Hz.

I don't think you can beat this xover for the price. This replaced a comparable Nady xover in our band PA rack and is much better. The crossover points are much more usable. Very easy to use and runs crystal clear. It does what it is supposed to do.

        Pros

        • Clear Sound
        • Transparent
        • Up To 15dbu Of Boost
        • Well Built

        Cons

        • Low Freq Only 100hz

        Best Uses

        • Dual-amping
        • Pa Crossover For Subs

Comments about DOD SR835 2-Way or 3-Way Crossover:

Well built, good value crossover. I feed it from a small mixer and it passes the signal through with no attenuation or apparent noise.

Balanced inputs (TRS, my preference) hooks up easy with patch cables.

I bought this to add a subwoofer and dedicated amp to my system, it works great for that. The low pass filter only goes down to 100Hz which is a bit high, but I'm using an amp with a built-in DSP Lo-pass filter on the sub so it's not a problem to just dial it down a bit further with the amp's internal filter. 100Hz is okay for the sub on it's own, but I prefer 85-90Hz on that channel with my rig.

The knobs are simple enough to use, they function well for cutting or mild boosting. I haven't tried using the full +15dBu of boost, I just run a good signal in and +0dB out is pretty much dead on what my mixer is sending. If you had a low input level (iPod or something) it would boost the signal fine into the amps if needed.

It would really work well to bi-amp some speakers, the knobs have good range for the high-pass and low-pass filters. Dialing in a good crossover point for 12's and horns looks like it would be a piece of cake. The Tri-amp / mono mode is there too, but I haven't ever messed with that.

        Overall a good buy.

Comments about DOD SR835 2-Way or 3-Way Crossover:

I bought this when I was going from a simple two speakers on poles to adding subs. This was so simple to hook up. I have used it for the last 8 years and it has NEVER failed me. I used it with (2) Yamaha S115V's and (2) Yamaha SW118V's and a festival director told me it was as good as a sound as when they hired a really big company to do the sound last year! I'd would buy one again if it dies on me!!!

            DOD SR835 Xover

            By

            from Antioch, California

Comments about DOD SR835 2-Way or 3-Way Crossover:

I have used this crossover for many years now, and it has not failed me. I use a top-of-the line PA system (EAW's 2 way and SB250 sub) and Crown Macro-Techs (MA1200 and 2402) with A & H Mix Wizard 16:2. No problem whatsoever with this simple DOD crossover product. I highly recommend this model if you don't want to spend too much for a crossover. It does the job as well, and even better as other units costing an arm and a leg:) Buy It !!!
