A small monitor that will let you hear your mixes clearly.

E-MU's PM5 Precision Monitor is designed from the ground up to deliver the most accurate audio possible in a compact design. Renowned audio-designer Jun Makino gave the PM5 custom audiophile amplifiers with Class-A inputs and MOSFET outputs; world-class 1" soft dome neodymium HF driver and 5" LF driver, in a premium cabinet. Its stereo sound imaging, transient detail, and linear frequency response is unmatched in its range. You also get overload protection with indicators, balanced/unbalanced inputs, and Treble, Bass and Input Sensitivity controls.

The carefully tuned bi-amplified power section minimizes aural fatigue while maximizing audio precision for professional-level audio reproduction. The premium glass fiber low-frequency driver delivers outstanding linear response. The high-frequency driver is a soft-dome tweeter with a lightweight, efficient neodymium magnet. A flow-optimized port provides low distortion and articulate bass, while a 1" thick front baffle helps eliminate internal resonance. The cabinet's radiused edges reduce cabinet edge diffraction for superior imaging, and magnetic shielding keeps interference out of play. A dual-mode LED on the front panel shows power status and indicates when the overload protection circuitry engages to prevent damage to drivers. Balanced Neutrik combo jacks and RCA inputs provide connection flexibility. Treble, Bass, and Input Sensitivity controls allow you to calibrate the PM5 to your specific acoustic environment and set input levels.

awesome little monitor

By pm5user

from FL

Sound is way bigger than they are clean, airy, and tight sound, they'll get really, really loud, but for precision monitoring they only sound "perfect" at lower volumes, after that the bass stays the same and everything else gets louder and out of proportion, probably the same for all smaller monitors. My mixes sound much more consistent now. Thought about the sub, but really these can pass without a sub at low volumes.

E-MU came Thru

I am extremely satisfied with these monitors. I was initially hesitant with the relation to creative which has some low-mid range product lines, but these speakers could pass as audiophile quality. The low end is decent, but get a sub to really round it out. They are well built and the blue leds look really cool in a dim room. Just thought I would throw this out there!

These sound awesome!

I was actually looking for some low end monitors to compliment my expensive mains. I love these. What a surprise. Tight and clear, what more can I say.

I can't even describe the subtle nuances of sound and timbre that I've never heard before. These speakers totally have opened my ears to sounds I've never heard in my mixes. I say buy them NOW! You won't be sorry.

Major difference

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I had some old Roland and Event BAS speakers that I've been using for years, and finally decided to get a new set. Having been real happy with the EMU1820M and Proteus X I decided to try their new monitors and WOW I am hearing stuff in my mixes especially in the high end that I have never heard before. The sound is super crisp and tight, with suprising amount of bass for it's size(I thought it was going to be much bigger based on the pictures). Although its hard to explain the sound is so clear it's almost like you can see into the mix. Very happy with this purchase. E-MU rocks.

Can you hear me now?

My Events are now speaker stands for my PM5s, and they cost twice as much! I've only had them for a couple weeks and I love'em. They do what a good reference monitor should do- show you what is good and bad about your mix so you can fix it. Too many monitors are designed to make all your stuff sound great so they sound bad everywhere else. Play your fave commercial CDs on these and you're in sonic heaven. A sub would be nice but am used to that. E-MU's got their act together again, hallelujah! Now I have to remix all my old babies!
