The EAW LA118z is a dedicated subwoofer with an 18" transducer in a trapezoidal enclosure. Tuned enclosure venting improves LF response, and the addition of an MX Series processor with factory settings can further optimize performance. The LA118z subwoofer is engineered to complement the LA Series full range systems or any full range loudspeaker. Recessed cups on the top accept the footpads of an LA325, LA460, or another LA118z.

We use a Pair of these Subwoofers for "Sound Support" events for Medium Size Concerts (approx 500 people)...We run a straight forward 2-way System with crossover at around 120hz and Powered with CROWN 4000s...Bass "tone" is fantastic; lower register Keyboard and Bass Guitar sound sweet !!...The real wood cabinet makes it sing....We aim for nice "tone" & "resonance" and EAW solid wood cabinets with matched drivers & tuned ports does the trick....Again, we go for the "tone" ...Double handles per side makes it an easy & balanced lift...Love to get 2 more and just stack them for the larger events....We fit 2 of these in the back of a small Hatchback and still had room...

If you want the 120Hz chest pounding single note bass, this isnt for you. If you like smooth subsonics in a short throw venue, a pair of these will do the job.I was surprised how smooth they sounded. Its like they arent there, then you realise that its natural and that the stage is moving.Not for DJ use without something else to cover the "thump", but I've even used them outdoors for live sound and had comments on how good the sound was.Driving two of them with a Crown XTi4000 in bridged mode and never heard any "flubbing" even when the amp limiters came on.Follow the recomendations for processing available on the EAW site and they do quite well for the money.

I have had this sub for about a year and am very disappointed in it. It does not get very loud without "flubbing"; I have tried everything to make it work - DBX speaker manager, hardware crossover, etc; driving it with a QSC 2450 (bridged) - should be plenty of power; no thump, no gut-moving bass; getting rid of it soon; very disappointed.
