I agree, the sound is pristine!I have owned the non-MIDI port verion for over 10 years. No problems and still sounds great.Just use your mixer or mic pre to get signals in to the line level inputs or digital in.I also own the current MIA-MIDI unit which just added the MIDI I/O so you don?t need a USB to MIDI interface. That?s good if you want to use an older keyboard with just MIDI out. This sound card is great to use with soft-synths like VST plugins. In fact both of my MIA PCI cards are being used now in PC?s with DAW?s and VST soft-synths for writing music, by the singer and bass player, from a Christian band I play keys with.I like that you can install this in a PCI slot and not have to worry about it changing hardware configurations, like USB or Firewire devices sometimes do, when disconnecting and reconnecting. The MIA-MIDI is great for setting up a PC based rig that you can have in rack mount case for road gigs.Check out Echo Audio?s website @ www.echoaudio.com for more.

The Mia Midi seems like a nice card, has pretty good specs on it, i would like it except for a few small things. First of all...the midi doesnt work, now it could just be a defect in the card or another defect in my system somewhere but i had a sound expert friend check everything and it is his conclusion that it is the sound card. I would expect a card especially made for midi to have a little more in its manual about midi but what does that matter anyways. my next problem is that when recording, i have to sample at 48,000 Hz instead of 44.1 because if i dont, the sound turn out all weird sounding. when i use the inputs in wdm mode instead of purewave mode it also causes weird things to happen. also just as a sidenote, the breakout box cord should have been much longer, it will stretch from the back of your computer to about halfway to the front (as you can tell by the picture). in my setup, that is almost as inconvenient as having it on the clear back fo the computer. In my opinion, there is a good chance is it better on a different person's computer but in my experience it isn't worth it and now i cannot return it because it falls under the nonreturnable items. good price but in this case the good price did not negate the fact that the money was still wasted. My sound specialist friend suggested one of the emu cards to me instead. so, it would have been agreat card had all the features worked for me. oh and by the way, i sent an email about my problem to echo audio's tech support about 2 weeks ago and have not gotten any word back.

Comments about Echo MIA MIDI Digital Audio and MIDI Card:
There is a reason that the only thing to change on this card in the past 6 years is the graphics for the GUI interface. I have used this card for everything under the sun. Guitars, Bass, Vox, Keys all sound pristine. This card will keep pace with Apogee at 1/4 of the price. Currently I use a EHX 12AU7 Mic Pre and a Rode NTK straight into this card. I use KRK VXT's to monitor (big knob through-put). I get accurate reproduction of my Blackheart 5w as well as clear and clean vocals. Mixing and mastering are accurate and true. Forget the over-priced PCI cards. This is it....now go buy a cool effect pedal with the money you save!
Comments about Echo MIA MIDI Digital Audio and MIDI Card:
Echo drivers are stable and have great latency. Audio quality is exceptional. If you only need 2 balanced analog ins (+spidif I/O), then this is the card for you. I have previously owned Echo "flagship" Mona24 interface and audio is same high quality. If you record alone and dont need more than 4 inputs, this is the card to get. Save your money and buy better preamps.

Comments about Echo MIA MIDI Digital Audio and MIDI Card:
This audio card is a very good mid-range card. The only reason I call it mid-range is the fact that other, more expensive cards offer more features. This is a very good card with very low latency for both audio and midi. This is a great card for beginners and is highly recommended from the folks at extremetech. Good purchase.
Comments about Echo MIA MIDI Digital Audio and MIDI Card:
I've gotten unbelievable results with this product. Home recording doesn't get any easier.
Comments about Echo MIA MIDI Digital Audio and MIDI Card:
If anyone says they can hear a difference in quality between this and other straight-in, no pre or compression, input devices, at any price, they either fooling themselves or have dog ears. I use Apogee converters via firewire and can hear little or no difference when the soft compression is not used on the Apogee, when compared to the Mia's digital input with same conditions as far as mic, source, and position of source.
Comments about Echo MIA MIDI Digital Audio and MIDI Card:
Signal to noise is better than cards 2 to 3 times as expensive. Works well to record direct, monitor, and mix. Works well with Windows XP, games, music, etc. Pure WAV processing bit for bit monitoring is great.
Comments about Echo MIA MIDI Digital Audio and MIDI Card:
I bought this soundcard when a DJ recommended it to me when I mentioned that I was looking for a good soundcard. Overall, the response of the soundcard is great. It's easy to install and easy to use, and you can start using it as soon as the installation is done. The quality is AMAZING. I can't recommend this soundcard enough!
