watch out for the set screw

Comments about Electro-Voice Cobalt 4 Three Pack:

These were fine mics for awhile at a more than reasonable price. They were used in the same places as one might use an SM-5 drums, horns, guitar amps. I was especially fond of how they sounded on snare drum.

But; of the three pack, only one lives on after 5 years. The problem was the set screw that holds the XLR pin assembly in place. This screw tends to vibrate out, and if you lose it one stage it can be nearly impossible to find, leaving you with dangling wires when you remove the mic cable. If you decide to get these, wrap a piece of electrical tape around the base of the microphone covering the set screw. You'll get more years out of them than I did.
