I've been using these mics for live vocals for a couple of years, now. Nice response on all types of singers, especially "delicate" female voices that tend to get swamped in the mix. The proximity effect is smooth and measured. Output is quite strong and similar to EV's more expensive N/D mics but without the narrow polar pattern that misses the mark when singers get a bit off axis. Handles strong vocals without overload. I've even mic'd guitar cabs and snare drums with no problem. Haven't noticed handling noise that others have mentioned but I can attest to the excellent wind noise rejection as we regularly use these mics outdoors in windy situations that make other mics like SM57's impossible. Bigger, wider sounding than the SM58's that a lot of our clients ask for (and we love our 58's). Very little channel EQ needed to get a great sound. I don't know why this mic cost's so little but I'm not complaining. Never had one fail and they all sound identical. You won't find that with many other "budget mics".

Decent mics, maybe the best in this price class with the Buy-one-get-one. Compared to a Sure 58 or Sennheiser E-835, this mic is noticeably worse though.
The output is nice and hot, in my A/B/C tests the gain needed to be dialed back a bit to match the Sure and Sennheiser, so there's something to be said for their Cobalt magnet. The SNR was very good as a result, and is part of the reason these mics reject feedback well.
Overall the sound is okay, but to me it sounded a bit more "treble" and as a result gave the impression of clarity, but was definitely not as clear in the all important mids as the others I tested.
This mic is a very directional mic, at first it was feeding back a lot but once I matched the levels to the other two mics it was similar if not slightly better at rejecting feedback. Combined with the hot output and good SNR, the directional pattern keeps feedback down very well.
The biggest down-side to this mic is the handling noise, which is fairly high. I didn't take it apart but I'm guessing it's not an isolated capsule inside based on how noisy it is. This is the main reason I won't ever use this mic live. Even strapped in a mic stand it picks up noise when the mic stand is contacted (i.e. need a new pick or move / adjust it slightly).
Overall for the price, basically 35 bones for the buy-one get-one deal, it's about the best there is. It's not a performance quality mic unfortunately though, due to handling noise.
The build quality is acceptable but not impressive.
Overall, if you need a couple of backup or practice mics and understand the downsides explained above, it's worth the $$. But as a main performance mic I'd say pass and save up for something a bit more reputable. In a back-up situation, you'd have to re-set the gain for this mic as it's definitely hotter than other popular stage mic's.

This Mic is a very well balanced and strong sounding dynamic EV mic that is very very well priced at two for one! I would very easily price just one of these mics at a much higher amount for the quality you get. I hear no handling noise whatsoever , and the mic feel's well in your hand! I love EV mic's, and for EV to put a great mic out like this at this price is almost too good to be true. Buy it!!!!

We keep a bag of these microphones for general use in our church. If they get lost or broken, the low price makes them easy on the sound budget to replace and they work well. However, these are not Beta 58s. Sound quality is good but not great.

Comments about Electro-Voice Cobalt Co7 Premiuum Vocal Mic - Buy 1, Get 1 Free:
I bought these with the intentions of using them as a stopgap before finally buying more expensive, recognizable mics. With band rehearsal happening in a fairly modest space, feedback rejection was a top priority. This mic excelled, in fact, it has yet to feedback in any application. It has provided a crisp, clear output thru an inexpensive tube preamp and delivers articulate, flat response. I have also used one in a pinch to record vocals on a quick demo, and it blended right into the mix without needing any processing whatsoever.
I was planning on "upgrading" to SM-58s, but until I have an issue with these mics, I'm holding my ground. Outstanding value!

I used these mics as part of my karaoke show. They worked fine with two 250's and a 150W self powered amps. Only downfall was the lack of off/on switches. That allows them to pick up audience noises, which can interfere womewhat with singers' performances.

Bought these as a stupid deal of the day. These mics are great! I have always been happy with EV, and these do not disappoint. I sing in a band and the mics are clear, plenty of power, light weight, but sturdy!

Very easy to use mics; plugged into an inexpensive tube preamp and voila, easy warm sound. Work very well with male vocals, they have a natural sound that was not prone to feedback, even with budget floor monitors at high volume. This mic may not replace a Beta 58, but it's a steal at this price! Low noise, low handling noise and it comes with a case and clip.
