Part of Electro-Voice's Live X series of portable powered and passive loudspeakers, the ELX118 can be used with a wide range of amplifiers, due to its exceptionally efficient design and power handling capability. Designed with the latest Electro-Voice-engineered woofer and 1.5" titanium compression driver, the ELX118 18" passive subwoofer provides exceptional audio quality with 400W power handling (1600W peak), exceptional SPL output, and a 50Hz-100Hz frequency response. The ELX118 is constructed of 9-ply, 15mm plywood, and is internally braced, making it sturdy yet completely portable. It has built-in side handles for transport, and pole mount for mounting other speakers from the Live X series on top.

Comments about Electro-Voice ELX118 Live X Series Passive 18" Subwoofer:

Decided on passive combination with matching 12" mains and very happy with the sound. I power them with EPX3000 amp running directly through the subs into the mains using internal crossovers and it absolutely rocks with minimal eq adjustment. My only complaint is the finish gets banged up so easy moving them around from gig to gig. Lots of headroom even with just the one amp in stereo.

Awesome Speaker for price!

Comments about Electro-Voice ELX118 Live X Series Passive 18" Subwoofer:

Powering two of them with a QSC GX7 to give it plenty of headroom, sounds like a typical single 18". Matching them up with the ELX115's. Not too pleased with the socket for the pole mount but it'll have to do.

Awesome bin for the price!
The coating seems alright. The grill is ok too. The one thing that sucks is the pole mount. It's not very sturdy when you place another speaker on top. Tried tightening helped a little. I've never encountered pole mounted speakers that wont wiggle or stand 100% straight.
Awesome for the sound and the price compared to other speakers of a similar class. Definitely best bang for the buck woofer.
