I decided to try the EV N/D967 mic based on the Highest gain-before-feedback claim. In my bands I have the weakest voice and always have the most trouble getting loud enough without feedback. The first time I plugged it in was on a gig, and it was noticeably a lot different from the Audix OM-2 I had been using. Much brighter sound quality (like a Sennheiser E835) and I had no problems getting on top. The guitarist running sound even dropped my level a bit after a while (a first). Next trial was in the basement for practice. Pretty much the same thing. Nothing but positive comments from my band mates. This mic delivers what it claims. I'm keeping it.
Personality frequency shaping function is a nice add.
Big diameter handle is a minor negative. Doesn't fit well in a standard (Shure) clip.
So far so good. Looks good and fuctions great.
It costs more than the SM58 but (for me) it delivered a lot more performance.

I own a couple of these, and a couple N/D767s, as well as EV speakers. I've always liked EV products, but the 967 has disappointed me greatly. I did get about five years of use, but I have older mics as well, that just keep working.
I take excellent care of all my equipment, and this is the first mic I've owned that just stopped working. It may have fallen to the floor one time, not from the stand, but from a table a few feet off a carpeted stage, but I guess that was all it took. Cause I went to use it the next night, and nothing, no sound at all.
A friend who does some electronic work opened it up but said the problem must be deeper into it than he wanted to go. I tried contacting EV, to see how much it might cost if they repaired it, but they never even responded, which itself is quite disappointing...
I'll probably have to just toss it, as a repair place would probably charge nearly what's it's worth, just to fix it; and who knows how much longer it would last? So, I suppose if you make sure to avoid any bump or knock whatsoever, I'd recommend it, but I'm not going to buy another...

Comments about Electro-Voice N/D967 Supercardioid Concert Vocal Microphone:
I thought the mic looked strange when I first saw a fellow musician using one, but the sound won me over! I won't use any other vocal mic, and I have been singing in groups since 1965 (no misprint!) & have used all the other major manufacturers' mics. Of course, for recording, I use condenser mics, but for live performances, to me nothing beats the sound quality and feedback rejection of the ND967.
The only drawback is that the rubber/plastic body cover on my original mic that I got 7-8 years ago had deteriorated to the point of falling apart. I called Electro-Voice about it, but the person I talked with about my problem was rather vague, and suggested that I find a "dealer near me" to replace the grip. I am very disappointed in their response to the only problem I have encountered with an otherwise stellar product.
As far as reliability goes, I compared my new mic to the old one (that I now leave set up in my home for rehearsal purposes) and I could not detect any difference in the sound quality between the two AT ALL. As stated earlier, my original is at least 6 or 7 years old, and has performed flawlessly the entire time. I do keep it in the padded case when not in use, and occasionally unscrew the top screen for cleaning purposes, but no other maintenance has been necessary. I highly recommend the EV ND967 to any vocalist for superior audio fidelity, and could probably be used for miking instruments as well, although less expensive alternatives generally serve those uses.

I bought a previous version of the same mike many years ago. It has always been reliable and still works just fine. A very good mike, I prefer it over the Sure 58 for voice reproduction and clarity.

I have operated as a one-man band playing classic rock dance music for a number of years. For the first time, I can crank my guitar, drum machine and other effects up LOUD during the third set and still have my vocals clearly heard. This mic is amazing!

Owned it for 1yr, many gigs, put it through some tough stuff.....
I've been a lead vocalist for 20+ years. This mic rocks. I've tried every Shure out there and still love them, but this EV is the bomb. Its so hot and I never strain. At the end of shows, I'm still strong because this mic does the work for you. Feedback is a thing of the past. You'll love it! Don't buy something else for a little less money. Get yourself one of these and you'll never look back.....Be aware that it's a different type of mic, so there's a short learning curve on mouth to mic position. You'll get used to it quickly. Good luck. Keep rockin!
Comments about Electro-Voice N/D967 Supercardioid Concert Vocal Microphone:
Over the last 14 years, my live performance experience has lead me to become a proponent of high quality equipment. But it right, and buy it once. Obviously this theory has its limitations, after gigging hard with equipment for 14 years, even the best shows its age. My EV N/D167 is a great example, because it still works great but is absolutely nasty. When it came time to replace it, there was no other brand for consideration, it's going to be an EV.
Why EV? When you own a relatively inexpensive microphone and it owns every other brand you've played with in spades, it says something. Not only has it delt with the abuse of the road without a case, but I have converted all of the bands I've played with over the years to EV.
After purchasing this a year ago, it sounds substantially better than my 167. You cannot find a better sound at any price. The quality is top notch -- like I expected, and once again my bandmates all bought one shortly after. Nobody wants to sound second best, especially when it comes to vocals. Do yourself a favor and buy one, nothing other than practice will make you sound better.

Comments about Electro-Voice N/D967 Supercardioid Concert Vocal Microphone:
I am a drummer and have been playing in bands for over 30 years. Any time that it became necessary to purchase new mics, it was always a no brainer; Shure SM58's for vocals, and SM57's for the instruments. At this point of my life, I am constantly upgrading my equipment, trying to get the best sound possible. So, this time around, I decided to do some research.
I read reviews, went over specs, and tested every mic that had been suggested to me. After weeks of driving myself crazy, I decided to give this N/D967 a try. The results were so impressive, that everyone else in the band immediately bought their own and it became standard equipment. In fact, when we have occasions where others will perform with us, I am immediately asked to get out one of my spares for them, because whatever mic they have, it just doesn't measure up.
Now we do take extremely good care of our equipment, so I can't attest to any dropping or abuse stories, but I can say that we have been using these for over two years now and have not had a single problem or failure.
I don't know if there's a better mic out there at any price...
Comments about Electro-Voice N/D967 Supercardioid Concert Vocal Microphone:
I've had this mic for a year and I can say that it beats Shure mic's hands down, nice clean sounding. Sorry for the guy that let his hit the floor and now it doesn't work. I've had that happen to my Shure, and it went bye bye. Doesn't matter what mic you have, they won't take that.
Comments about Electro-Voice N/D967 Supercardioid Concert Vocal Microphone:
Been playin' in bands for some time and no other mic I've used can even touch this mic. All summer long our band has been playin out and this mic has been our saving grace at every show. You can actually hear the vocals. I won't use another mic but this one. Use it with a Monster Cable and it won't ever let ya down.
