Excellent if you can afford them.
These EV's are still the gold standard of quality sound can not be beat for quality sound in a two way 12" cab. I have owned a pair for many years and they have never let me down. As mains or monitors they shine clean and clear, more articulate than anything this size. Super portable and lightweight easy to transport in the back seat of my Honda civic. Not sure if they are worth the price? Then you need new ears ! Have beat mine for years and they hold up well.
Maybe a bit pricey. But they sound better than almost anything in this class.

I bought a used pair and liked them so well that I am planning on adding either 2 more of the sx100's or the newer zx series.I power my SX100's with either Carvin or Crown amps depending on the situation.

I bought a set of these used to see if they were worth the "hype" I thought I was reading. I ended up buying another set new to replace another set of speakers I have. If you buy JBL and Mackie, you are not getting 80% of the sound you should. Granted, all speakers have their applications, I'm not dogging any manufacturer, but for Karaoke/basic background Music and true reproduction, I've found these to excel compared to similar offerings.The highs are defined and definitely there, the lows rival some of the 15" cabinets I've used, and the overall quality is much better than any Mackie I've had the displeasure of working with (they're made in China!!).Buying these will do many things for you and our country - they're made right here in America (Michigan to be exact) and they will fill out your sound like you wouldn't believe.Try 'em - I've heard them, and I'll live by them!

Just bought two of these here from Musicians Friend. They sound excellent. Crisp, clear and pure sounding. I'm using them with a Mackie 808M powered mixer. In '07 I bought some Carvin LM12 speakers and have been using those up until now. Those speakers sound pretty good also, but let's face it... you get exactly what you pay for. So save up your $$ and get the pro gear. That's what these EV's are. I'm also about buying american made and these EV speakers are made right here in the USA just like my car, drums, mackie amp and audix microphones. Keep the $$ in the USA! Forget Yamaha, Behringer, Sennheiser, AKG etc. Buy American JBL, Peavy, Shure, Audix, Electrovoice etc.

We've had out EV SX100s for a few years - they look and sound like new. They were played several times a week in a large church & handled bands, vocals, recorded music and public speaking beautifully. They are compact, easy to transport and rival the sound from much larger and heavier mains.
