Regardless of what they claim, these lights DO have a definate duty cycle..., after 30, to 45 minutes..., they're going to need a rest. The fixtures do get hot, especially with the supplied halogen R20 lamps, but they give off very bright light, and the two controls on the rear allow for set and forget chasing, or music activated chasing. Both my unit's controls still work, again, If you try to run these for hours at a time, you're bound to overheat them. Good light at a great price, though. I own 2...
This light is not bad at all. I just got it today, and I tested it out. After 2 minutes of it being on, one of the red bulbs went out. And I thought this thing was sound active? I can't find a switch or anything. Its just in chase mode. The price I paid for this was not bad though.
I bought two of these for a custom light bar in my music room at my home. They were ok for awhile. I've had to replace bulb more frequently than I think is necessary but I can live with that. My problem is that now, one unit either runs all the time or won't run at all, regardless of what adjustments are made to it. I'll buy another because they're cheap and my light bar (at Home)was custom made for these lights but I would never use them in a performing situation.
Ijust bought this light the other day, and used it for about five minutes. I accidentally tapped it with my foot, and it doesn't work now. I bought replacement lights and it still doesn't work. This thing is a real piece of crap.
I was impressed with the ease of use and style of this product until the chase effect quit working in the middle of a gig and the light bulbs started smoking. Needless to say I have not used it again and repair costs are more than I payed for it. My advice, spend a little more time in the research and development department
Not a bad light set up for not so much $$ I have one of these, I'm a little dissapointed though two of my lights don't work, so I have to replace those, had some dings on it (so musician friend gave me 5% off my next purchase) instead of having to wait for a week or two to get the replacement once you go through the steps of mailing it back and all. I'm going to buy another one mainly because for the price you can't beat it. I consider it a good buy even with my small problems.
