Comments about Eventide Eclipse Multi-Effects Processor:
A wonderful unit with lush effects. Definitely not plug-n-play. You will need to read the manual. It took me a couple hours of messing around just to get a sound out of it. I have the 4.01 operating system which has some issues with RAM and checksum errors (see Eventide website for more info). I contacted Eventide over email and they were quick to respond with the simple fix. To get the most out of this unit, you have to invest some time, but time invested pays dividends with such a deep machine. Good for live rigs, better for studio rigs. Latest version has TimeFactor and ModFactor presets.
Comments about Eventide Eclipse Multi-Effects Processor:
I have had the Eclipse for since June of 2007, and it is simply the most comprehensive piece of equipment I have ever used. I don't understand why anyone would bother with any other processor or toggle around with all of the floor pedals. This is worth the money (even if you have to save a while to get it). The product works equally well for live performance and studio recording. It's easy to use and pretty intuitive to learn the programing scheme too. I use this product through the Carvin Legacy amplifier, sounds amazing through the FX loop. And an added bonus, if you upgrade the O/S to a current version, you get all the presets for the Eventide TimeFactor and ModFactor pedals for free.
Comments about Eventide Eclipse Multi-Effects Processor:
If you want Eventide 'verbs, delays and pitch shifting but don't want to spend $5500, the Eclipse will take your breath away. The Eclipse doesn't have the UltraShift like the 8000 or 7600, but the pitch shifting is better than anything else I've used. The verbs are natural and smooth, but then every effect in it sounds wonderful. If you don't need UltraShifting, or 12 channels of digital processing, the Eclipse is perfect.
Comments about Eventide Eclipse Multi-Effects Processor:
Straight out of the box this unit is lush and warm. All you thought an effects processor should be. The decays and subtle nuances of each program are perfection. Connectivity is a breeze for any set up, whether using word clock source and AES/EBU or analog in and out. The quality of this unit is unsurpassed. Can't wait to start experimentating with layering programs and tweeking parameters. The former only because you can, not out of neccesity. The price is worth every penny. This quiet and superb piece of equipment is an essential part of any studio at any level. It will immediately become a favorite and dynamic tool for any project. All I can say is the Eventide Eclispe is "butter".
Comments about Eventide Eclipse Multi-Effects Processor:
I had my eye on this for a couple of years. The price tag is definitely an oucher but I have spent more on a guitar. This unit is the richest sounding effects processor I have ever had or heard. I'm running it with a POD XT Pro as the preamp into 2 amps and it's unbelievable. I don't know if shredders will find it useful, but if your looking to experiment with sound this is for you. I think 9 out 10 guitar heroes have an eventide product in their rig and after messing with it you'll understand why. I give it to thumbs up.
