The top of the Passport line.

The 8-channel Fender Passport 500 PRO Portable PA system is Fender's most powerful portable PA system and offers the greatest clarity. But now Fender has added an input for recording your performances with CD-quality (WAV) straight to a USB flash drive. The Passport 500 also offers CD-quality WAV and MP3 playback, and a sub-out jack has been added for an external powered subwoofer.

This Pro 500 is also 9 pounds lighter than the previous version with reduced, more portable dimensions. The redesigned speaker system features two molded plastic cabinets with a 10" woofer and a 1.2" horn-loaded tweeter in each to deliver better definition than before. When not in use, the speaker clips to the mixer for a convenient, one-piece portable system.

Take a close look and listen and the Passport PRO 500 will take you places like never before. Fender kept the best of previous Passport generations and added new features and functionality so that this Passport system is ideal for whatever your PA application may be—education and presentations, party gigs, small clubs, and coffee houses. It even gives you two ways to record. The first is a Stereo Out that allows you to hook it up to a recording device without it being affected by master volume changes. The second is a USB recorder which lets you insert a USB memory stick or flash drive. This drive can also be used for playback.

Owned the 500 for about 8 months now. Using with a Vocalist Live 3, my Washburn acoustic/electric, sometimes my little Yamaha APX500... this system is perfect. I use an inexpensive Samson mic and it sounds fantastic. I play mostly classic rock and Britpop (Beatles, Oasis, Stones). The sound quality is crystal clear, and as for power and volume, more than enough for small to medium size venues (coffee houses, small bars, rec halls). Many of the bad reviews for the 500 complain that it is not powerful/loud enough for large venues?? Read the product description... good for small and medium sized venues!!! It's not made for big clubs or theatres... or outdoors. Why do people write bad reviews for a product when they are trying to use it for something otherthan what is reccommended??? Oh well. I have yet to use the subwoofer output but I will say that I love the Flashdrive recording. I just wish I could somehow boost the recording volume level... that is my only complaint, but I may be doing something wrong. The volume seems very low upon playback. Oh - I have played my Les Paul through this but you have to run through an effects box of somekind - I use a Vox Tonelab. Overall, for sound quality and portability - this is an AWESOME SYSTEM! If you are a solo act or acoustic duo or trio, this is the system for you.

Comments about Fender Passport 500 Pro Portable PA System:

I wanted more portability but 47 lbs. in one grip is harder to carry than my larger Peavey system individually. I would recommend detaching the speakers & carrying separately or getting a cart (if stairs aren't involved.)It is easy to set up and has good sound quality for the price. Don't buy a factory refurbished model like I did, the master volume dial had a short in it and fizzled out on it's first performance.

inspite of the price i upgraded from the Passport 300 to th Passport 500. The 300 hundred a very decent system which covered the rooms I played 100 to 300 people it provided great sound through out the venues. For larger events I had to take out a larger system. I'm upgrading due to the fact of me seeing and not bebieving, I was at a Dinne/dancer with aprox 800 plus people where the group used the Passport 500 and a small sub i was blown away.My 300 just a week or so old was exchanged with no problems from a local vender. Ive used the Passport as a subsitute for a Leslie Speaker at a worship service and it was unbelievable. Thanks Fender excellent product I and my fans thank you
Great Unit oustanding power for size
Good design fantastic quality sound at an excellent volume. Im a keyboardest and saxophonist. I recentlycompleted a CD project inwhich the quality sound the Passport 500 is helping to promote. My audience upon entering the venues think it's a CD playing. Don't be fooled by the bad reviews given on this system. I did my homework researched several PA systems, and designated keyboard amps. Keboardist check out the Passport Pro system QUALITY STEREO sOUND.
A little high priced compared to its competiters but worth the price differeence. Its a true saying you get what you pay for.

      Good but not great...

      By promixaudioM7

Comments about Fender Passport 500 Pro Portable PA System:

Has half the EQ the old PD 500 had and without the incerts this thing would be useless with the headset(Shure SLX) mic my wife uses for corporate events and church settings and camps.. for regular play back its still sounds great but it's preset EQ settings are to muddy for most microphones.. As for volume I would suggest the other customer return it because mine just rips as loud as our previous PD 500 with richer bottom end and thats what might be making my wifes mic muddy...Incert some good eq and tweak it and it sounds great at every thing you can through at it.. Much richer sound verses the older unit...throw a seven or 9 band EQ on it for different mics that will be used on it and I think it would be an easy fix for my problems.. really like the usb recording but it has a bit of hiss that gets recorded off the system.

      Go with the PD 250!!!

      By Goo

Comments about Fender Passport 500 Pro Portable PA System:

Purchased one of these, tried it out and returned it. Doesn't even come close to the sound of the PD 250. The weight of this thing is the best part but I'll stick with my PD 250 which runs laps around the Passport 500.

      Great features, great value

      By bobwfritz

Comments about Fender Passport 500 Pro Portable PA System:

I needed a very portable unit to meet all our church needs (we meet in a gym). This unit stood out because of the rich feature set including USB recording/playback, many different types of inputs, ease of use, and great sound. The speakers output 250W each and find that I do not have any problems with not enough output. One thing to note is that if using an electric guitar or bass you must use a DI box or guitar amp with line outs instead of plugging directly into the line in. Love the USB recording - I can now produce sound and record my church services with one device. The unit does not come with extra peripheral equipment which is actually a good thing - keeps the cost down and allows you to have the choice of mics, etc. Anyways, the design is great and so far it hasn't let me down.

      Great portability, Poor sound outpus

      By Johnie Fredman

      from Shawnee, OK

Comments about Fender Passport 500 Pro Portable PA System:

I recently purchased a Fender Passport 500 Pro to upgrade from my PD-250. I wanted the 500 to produce more volume for outdoor and large venues. However, I was amazed at how little volume it produces! My old PD-250 blows this thing away! I love the smaller size and lighter weight, but the sound output is pathetic. No complaints about the quality of the sound, it is top notch. Good luck getting people to hear it in a large area.I finally had time to set them up side by side this morning. With the master volume at 50% and the input volume at 25%, the 500 Pro only put out 62 decibels. The old PD-250 put out 110 decibels! So, the Pro 500 is (supposedly) twice the size of the old PD-250, but produces half the volume. For large venues, this thing is worthless. This is my third Passport and I was very excited about the new design. Well, not any more.

      Great PA system!

Comments about Fender Passport 500 Pro Portable PA System:

My decision to buy the passport pro 500 was for durability, playing seven nights for the past thirteen years in a beach resort with the first passport 250 model gave me the confidence to buy the new pro 500,sound and reverb are excellent,my nylon guitar sounds incredible and also my violin and vocal, the pro 500 is perfect for me!
