This unit nicely fills the niche between the Best Buy toys and the higher-priced semi-pro units. Perfect for the hobbyist who wants a versatile, decent sounding machine for karaoke parties, or acoustic amp for guitar/vocals - and with the added benefit of a built-in DVD player with high-end A/V connections. It will allow two mics or a mic and guitar, as well as a separate RCA-type line-in on the back for drum machines, etc (but with no assigned volume or EQ). It puts out sufficient volume for large living rooms, small bars, etc. The sound is clear, with crisp highs, decent midrange and decent mid-bass. No real deep bass, but still a pretty full sound. Very punchy output on DVD/CD. No separate EQ for the mic inputs, so you have to play with the master bass/treble controls to find a happy balance between music and vocals. I got good results by placing the unit up off of the floor on a chair or table. You'll need better mics than the two supplied with the unit. The built-in digital delay is very usable. Low noise at normal volumes. Flimsy feeling dvd/cd tray combined with a low-end cassette player/recorder. The unit is nicely protected with a solid feeling grained-vinyl on wood cabinet. It's relatively light at 27 lbs, so it feels very portable. I like it!
