OVERVIEW

2-in, 4-out USB audio interface with two Scarlett mic preamps.

The second generation Scarlett range is packed full of upgrades. Scarlett generation 2 features super-low latency that will bring confidence to your performance, letting you record and monitor with software effects in real time. Its metal volume controls and a sleeker red metal chassis underscore its improved industrial design, built to go anywhere. Scarlett USB audio interfaces also now operate at sample rates all the way up to 192kHz, and the input channels have evolved too. The latest Scarlett mic preamp features a more even gain structure, so you can accurately set your levels, and the instrument input has also been completely redesigned so it can handle seriously hot pickups for recording electric guitar.

The compact and flexible Scarlett 2i4 is a 2-in, 4-out USB audio interface that makes it easy to perform and record studio quality audio against a cue mix. Take it anywhere, connect by USB and get two natural-sounding Scarlett mic preamps, super-low latency, MIDI I/O, four analogue outputs and the same class-leading sound quality and digital conversion as the rest of the latest Scarlett range.

Focusrite interfaces are the perfect partner for Pro Tools, so Scarlett 2i4 comes with Pro Tools | First recording software, as well as Ableton Live Lite and a suite of software and samples so you can start recording straight away. As you’d expect, it works flawlessly with all major DAWs on Mac and PC.

I'm a 61 year old man using Pro-Tools for the first time and I have recently purchased the Focusrite 2i4 and it is a nice unit and easy to use so I am satisfied with it, my only wish is that it would of came with a manual which it dose not, one must go to their site and download it, hey I'm old school I pay some decent coin for a product so I'd like the manual to come with it well that's my two cents.

Been using Focusrite's stuff lots in the past 10 years and already had scarlett 2i4 (1st gen), but master volume potentiometer went bad. Decided to switch to 2nd gen and I often use it in the last 3 months or so. Windows driver for 2nd gen is awful and makes a lot of problems like - BSOD, latency spikes, when using with ASIO can't use it for anything else (sometimes), glitchy audio from browsers and etc. Giving it 2 stars only because they upgraded the headphone amplifier from 1st gen which was very bad.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 (2nd Generation) USB Audio Interface:

First off: DO NOT BUY. Second: terrible feedback caused by it being powered by the USB 2.0. I would recommend buying an interface with its own power source. Finally: every 30 to 45 sec it would produce a scratching noise. NOT COOL :(

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 (2nd Generation) USB Audio Interface:

These really deliver on their reputation for the good sounding preamp and a/d converter. Apparently the earlier version had trouble with headroom: guitar pickups being too hot. This version: no problem. Guitars sound great going directly in. Really good.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the software setup for windows was a tedious nightmare. They've done a poor job in that area. Also the daw that comes with it is only ok. Otherwise it's great.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 (2nd Generation) USB Audio Interface:

I bought the 1st gen several years back and the latency was almost intolerable; especially with amp sims or e-drums. The 2nd gen halved the latency and also seems to be a bit more stable at higher sample rates with low buffers. Totally worth the price now.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 (2nd Generation) USB Audio Interface:

The Focusrite 2i4 has not failed or lowered my expecations one bit. I have had no problems with it at home or the studio. The interface has no problems at all from what I have put it thru. I have the 2i4 set up to run on my mac, and my windows interfaces and it was a great buy for the quality and price!

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 (2nd Generation) USB Audio Interface:

Nice interface. Small, easy to use, elegant. It could be better if the Scarlett come with better studio recording software (ProTools First is terrible and Ableton Live Lite isn't great for that), but at least you receive access to download some plugins. I didn't test Scarlett mic preamp yet (for now, I just recorded guitars) but I hope to buy a condenser mic soon.

The more I use this product the more impressed I am with it. Features like switchable Line/Instrument Inputs, Midi in/out and the separate headphone volume make it great for me. The pad button is great to keep your inputs from peaking and the many outputrs let me hear playback through a variety of sound systems. Really like this device, cleverly designed and well laid out.
