T50RP has very low harmonic distortion. Even better than DT880 or HD650. Just slightly higher than the expensive and non-portable, Stax electrostatics. Tips: If anyone feels that T50RP has inadequate treble, just rise the cushions by 6mm thicker (actually for pop style sound I stick the DT880 cushion on it), then you will get the same DT880's freq response, but just far lower distortion. As other studio headphones, T50RP may not loud enough for portable players, although the sensitivity is still higher than those high-end Sennheisers, Buyers or A-Ts.

I've worked in a pro facility for 20 years. The original T-20's were great- lightweight, slim, good sound quality, and comfortable to wear. Unfortunately, as time has assed and with each successive new version(they're on their 3rd now) they have sounded worse and worse. They ARE the most rugged phones in the biz, nad I think that's why they've sold. Fostex has also made parts available through their website to fix these inexpensively in the past, which is why MANY pro studios use them. As if late, their parts support SUCKS- they're constantly out of stock, so if the headphones break after the warranty period, you're out of luck.If they want to keep their customers,Fostex needs to SUPPORT their product with parts availabilty.Get with it Fostex!

Worst headphones ever

By zarathustra

from Dahlonega, GA

First, I should state that I've only used these headphones in my home studio for monitoring. The sound is flat and lifeless. The vinyl or whatever that stuff is covering the earpieces likes to slip off, it's almost impossible to put back on without ripping it (I've got duct tape holding mine on). And as several reviewers have mentioned, it likes to flake off too. The insulation over the cord has slipped off next to the earpiece, more duct tape required. All together, these are the lowest quality headphones I've ever had the displeasure of wasting my money on.

Great headphone

By Henry

Ask me a question

I have had very positive experience with these HPs. They are constructed differently than most. Fostex often does things differently w their product line. I have compared these with Sennheisers costing many times more, and to my ears the sound quality they emit is quite respectable and amazing for the cost. I have uniformly had good experience with Fostex products (value for the money and creative engineering) and this product is no exception.

T50RP: Solid Performers (Just coddle the cable)

By Tony Ward

from Omaha, NE

I bought the T50RPs 2.5 years ago on value for price, and have never regretted it. These phones have been indispensable for my work and play... they even bring some life to the lackluster computer speakers I use! Only complaints would be in materials; ear cups have fallen off on occasion and the locking cable needs to be handled with care; easy to break at connection point. (Maybe my 3 small kids had something to do with that...) Anyway, for the money these are wonderful.

such a let down

By M-Dub

from Pittsburgh

I got these headphones thinking theyd have a great sound for recording and mixing. The sound from them was really muffled, dull, and yea, they pretty much sounded like crap! They have a great look and youd think they would be a great pair for the money. In about 2 weeks, the 1/8 jack ripped off because its made cheap and good luck finding a replacement. Don't buy these, please be smart and take my word for it!

Fostex rock....

By bigbadwolf

I am a radio dj and needed something that was not only going to sound good, but last for the next 7 years. The Fostex T50 sound good, they are durable, yet lightweight and you can replace the parts, which to me was HUGE!

Not sure...

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Got the headphones a week ago, and noticed that the sound in one or the other ear drops out. Turns out that the removable jack on the headphone piece was malfunctioning. When the lock is disengaged a bit, they seem to work fine but after a while sound would drop out/in, untill you have to play with the jack again. Sending the headphones back to get a replacement. Hopefully the new pair will be better and will get a better review.

The T50RP are a good solid pair of headphones

By vincewizz

from Philly

The T50RP are a good solid pair of headphones, i have owned a pair for over a year. I do mostly road work so need a good pair of phones that can take a beating and these do. The ear cups i had to tape on but that's no big problem. I would recommend them.

These headphones KICK! They are also the sturdiest, most comfortable ones I have ever seen. The sound is incredible!
