Very Low output

Features:

Got one because of reviews and I wanted to have a supplement for a singer I provide production for. Work with a loud hard rock cover band and when I tried to use this device just straight signal from a mike to the unit signal was almost not there. Volume was all the way up. They only way I could get enough volume out of the unit was to put the signal into a 15 band eq before going into the transmitter and turning the eq all the way up on every band and max out the output on the eq. I still couldn't get the signal where I would like it but at least that made it to where you could hear it in the ear buds provided. Going to try some other tricks next time. Signal never got passed 3 green lights on the transmitter not sure why. All it needs is some volume. I run a SoundCraft gb8 32 board. Singer decided not to use it as it was his first time with an in ear and it was "wierd" to him.

Quality:

The unit is made well and looks professional. Case is a bit cheap cardboard and styrofoam.

Value:

IF you don't need high volume then the price is right.  Just needs better input processing.

Overall:

Over all if it wasn't for the volume problem I would have thought this an excelent unit.Price is great compared to everything else out there. It has rack mount adaptation which is really a must for me since I run a plug and play system with everything in racks. I even have a detachable snake so I don't have to plug in and out the board or the processing at each set up. I'm hoping to find a way to incorporate this into my system should I get the volume issue settled.

Good for the price

Features:

I have a hearing imparement and was having a difficult time directing our annual Christmas cantata using prerecorded trax. Because of our low budget I opted for this unit (AS-900) based upon other reviews.  Yes, its big brother (AS- 1100) would have more features, but this one has all the features I needed for the price.

Quality:

So far no complaints on the quality except for the earbuds being less than optimal.

Value:

Great value for the money.

Overall:

Pros - good clear sound, not interference even with 9 other wirless devices running at the same time.

Cons - the earbuds are uncomfortable.

Overall:

I have been using this unit for about 6 months now. 1-2 times a month. I rate on how a product performs consindering the money I paid for it. This is my first in ear system. Never had a problem with it. There were times when there was some brief, wierd noises, but nothing that interfered with being able to hear myself. The buds that come with it are good for starter. Dont fit well. But, the sound better than my drummer's dual cone, high dollor buds. I upgraded to the Galaxy EB6. Great fit, seal nicely. I suggest doing the same. I also run the sound system for my band, so, I have to take these out now and again to check the sound. 2 gigs ago when I did this, my buds fell (dangling from the reciever dragging on the floor) I got them hooked on something and the buds ripped away from the point where the wire slit off to right and left buds. I sent them back to Galaxy and they fixed them. NO CHARGE. Something that was clearly my fault and I stated that, but, they took care of me. Good Cust. service.

Review worth reading

Features:

Features are pretty basic, volume on the reciever, Db reduction on the transmitter in the event your host signal is too hot. Couple of features that would help but probably drive the price up. Include the BNC antenna bulk head and extender for rack mounting. it comes with a rack mount kit but you should really move the antenna to the front if you're racking it up.  I do however like the overside antenna that comes with it, it's about 2mm off on the clearance for an SKB rack but you'll be fine with a standard ATA flight case etc.      Need to be able to select channels, even if it's via switches inside the unit, if you ever get interferance you won't be able to simple switch the channel like on a Shure PSM200 etc.

You will absolutly have to upgrade the ear buds! again this keeps the cost down so plan on spending more on decent ones. But this is nothing different when getting a Shure, AT or Sennheiser model, you'll always want to upgrade the buds.

We use a dedicated A&H monitor mixer so we can really dial in the eq, I'm not sure how well these will work with a simply monitor send, also this unit does not have a limiter built in, so be carefull. these are ment to save your hearing not hurt them so maybe put a limiter in line.

Quality:

so far so good, I've dropped the pack a few times from about waist level and it's still working good. What's great is if you loose or break the reciever it's affordable to replace it, the Shure PSM reciever is more than the cost of this entire unit. (that's actually why I got the AS-900 to begin with)

Value:

What can I say, you can not find a better price on a decent In ear wireless unit.

Overall:

I play in a 7 piece horn band everyone is now on ears. We have one Audio Tech. M3, four PSM 200's, two PSM 600's and now one Galaxy Audio AS-900. The units are all comprible in end sound quality with some work on the board.  We lost one of the recievers to one of the PSM 200's and we didn't have the cash to buy a new one, so I bought one of these units as a back up and for that weekends gigs.   You have to be super carefull when using multiple wireless units in a rig, do your homework on the frequency cross talk considerations. again you can't change channels on this unit, our other units you can so with some minor adjustments there was no chance for cross talk between them all. Didn't use the ear buds included, but tested them and they are aweful, get a good pair before you even open the box.  Anyway, the reciver was unbelieveibly hot, signal was great, clear and tons of headroom. I'm going to get one more just for some insurance if something happens to one of the other units.

Look if you don't like carrying around wedges and  you want a tight band with low stage volume then jump to using in ears, totally worth every penny.
