Having been an active drummer for over 30 yrs, I've always used a wedge monitor for live performances. My ears would ring after shows for days! I decided to try in-ear monitors and started reading reviews, and that led me to the Galaxy system. I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever. Heres the deal... these need a monitor mix line out signal from your mixer to work properly! Being a drummer, I have the vocals, guitars, bass and drums all at a level that is comfortable and evenly mixed, and it sounds absolutely awsome! Plenty of head room on the volume control left as well! I took the advice of some of the other reviews and ordered a pair of Westcom in-ear buds...glad I did. The Galaxy buds are ok, but arnt nearly as clear and comfortable as the Westcoms. Also, the harshness of being behind a kit is toned down considerably. To make a long story short, I'm very pleased with how this new monitor system works for me, and should have gone this route a long long time ago! PS... the only reason I rated this a 4 star was because of the ear buds, and that was easily rendered by Westcom!

I'm a drummer that has been using wired in ears for around 3 years now. I bought these as an experiment into wireless and needless to to say, it was a mistake. With the transmitter sitting underneath my throne it was still unable to reliably transmit (and I also checked with other wireless audio companies to make sure I chose the best frequency for my region.) the ear buds provided no isolation whatsoever and when I tried other molded buds that I had, they were incompatible. The only sound that the system could reliably produce was low volume vocals. Perhaps if you're the vocalist in a jazz group and you're playing small club gigs these would work, but when used in a concert hall before a few hundred people these fell short and I had to revert back to my wired. Luckily I had that standing by. And to ward off any questions of why a drummer need wireless monitors in the first place, I move around a lot when playing and I've had my shure buds get caught on my throne and ripped out before. It was becoming too expensive replacing buds, so I bought a long extension cable and that will serve until I buy some shure wireless.

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-900 Wireless Personal System:

I have been using this unit for about 6 months now. 1-2 times a month. I rate on how a product performs consindering the money I paid for it. This is my first in ear system. Never had a problem with it. There were times when there was some brief, wierd noises, but nothing that interfered with being able to hear myself. The buds that come with it are good for starter. Dont fit well. But, the sound better than my drummer's dual cone, high dollor buds. I upgraded to the Galaxy EB6. Great fit, seal nicely. I suggest doing the same. I also run the sound system for my band, so, I have to take these out now and again to check the sound. 2 gigs ago when I did this, my buds fell (dangling from the reciever dragging on the floor) I got them hooked on something and the buds ripped away from the point where the wire slit off to right and left buds. I sent them back to Galaxy and they fixed them. NO CHARGE. Something that was clearly my fault and I stated that, but, they took care of me. Good Cust. service.

Awesome deal

By Robert Martinez

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-900 Wireless Personal System:

great overall value!! inexpensive set up for sure.
The only reason i gave it a 9 is because it doesnt let you know when the actual reciever is on. it doesn't have and led on it to let you know when its powered up.
quality is awesome, this is my first pair of wireless in ears. everything sounds clear, the only thing is the ear buds it come with. they just didn't fit my ear that great, so i went on line and looked at various ear buds. i researched these buds called the m6 from mee electronics and went ahead and stepped out on a limb and got 2 pairs of the clear. they were a good price and when i got them a few days later i was really impressed with the sound quality. they wrap around your ears like professional in ears and they have a moldable wire so they won't come out of your ears. these are one of the best ear buds i have ever used, they are sound isolating and come with many diff. ear bud attachments to fit your ears. great combination to this galaxy in ear system. i have been playing music for almost 20 yrs now and i gotta say this is a pretty good and relatively cheap set up.

Respectable system for the money

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-900 Wireless Personal System:

Having looked for reviews on this before my purchase and finding none, I thought I'd help you out. My impressions after using this for 5 or so gigs are mostly positive. There are two channels which you can run in stereo or summed mono (which is what I do). I have been getting a good clean signal that does not drift when using this option (I could not get a strong, steady signal in stereo mode for some reason). I take an aux send of the overall mix into one channel, and a direct out of my vocal into the other channel. You cannot control the mixdown with the Galaxy, as it has no mixing controls, so I premix at the board, and control the overall volume with controls on both the rear of the transmitter and the power/volume rotary pot control on the receiver. The earbuds are junk - easily evidenced by auditioning them with your iPod. I use a set of Shure E3's which I love, and would probably make even the cheapest of iem systems sound passable.-Hiss? None to VERY minor. Sometimes I'll get a slight bit when the gate transitions, but I can't blame that on the Galaxy unit. I am very happy with the clarity of the signal and lack of extraneous noise.-Range? I have not measured, but I have not lost signal from any place on a 25 x 25 stage. I have the unit racked with a Shure PGX wireless 58, and have had not noticed any crosstalk issues either.-Batteries? 2 AA's. Hooray!! Cheap, and seemingly last forever. I'm still on my first set after two weeks. Thank goodness the folks at Galaxy recognize that 9v cells cost much more than they are worth.-Volume? Here is where I got confused when reading a review of an older product, the AS-1000. There were multiple reviewers who noted that the volume level even at full on, was too low to be acceptable for stage monitoring. A look at the specs for the older unit shows the output from the receiver to be 20mW. The newer unit that I am reviewing has had a substantial upgrade: 80mW. I have never had to turn the volume completely up to get a reasonable sound level on stage. At a comfortable volume, I still have appx. 20% more headroom available, even with drums, Marshalls and Ampegs thundering away.-Clarity? Not much worse than your iPod. Of course the signal is getting to you by a UHF transmission, so it's not quite as good. If you send in clean signals at moderate levels to your transmitter, you will be happy with the result.Overall, well worth the expenditure. Spend some time with your signals and levels, and you will probably not be disappointed with this entry level system.

Good for the price

By Steven Hall

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-900 Wireless Personal System:

Pros - good clear sound, not interference even with 9 other wirless devices running at the same time.
Cons - the earbuds are uncomfortable.
I have a hearing imparement and was having a difficult time directing our annual Christmas cantata using prerecorded trax. Because of our low budget I opted for this unit (AS-900) based upon other reviews. Yes, its big brother (AS- 1100) would have more features, but this one has all the features I needed for the price.
So far no complaints on the quality except for the earbuds being less than optimal.
Great value for the money.

Great wireless IEM system

By JK-B-6A7

from Cleveland, OH

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-900 Wireless Personal System:

Sound quality - pleasantly surprised. The signal is very good, even in stereo mode. The system has a headphone amp built in to the transmitter so it was easy to do an A/B comparison between the direct signal and the wireless one. Even though I could tell the difference, the wireless signal was very close to the original. The whole frequency range is there, although it is "smeared" just a slight bit. Also, the stereo separation is not perfect, but is not a significant problem. Mind you, I was testing this system with quality monitoring headphones that tend to reveal every defect in the signal.Volume from the receiver is also very strong. It?s no 1000mW headphone amp, but has plenty of volume for the stage. Any louder and you?d be killing your ears anyway. As other reviewers have mentioned, the included earphones are very low quality. They have a massive high-frequency rolloff and low impedance that amplifies the system?s noise. They can be made to sound surprisingly decent by boosting the signal?s high frequencies, but if you?re at all serious about using these you should really upgrade to better IEMs.Along the same lines, the amount of noise you hear from the system will greatly depend on the particular IEM/headphones you use and their impedance. Using average earbuds with a low impedance will give you a noticeable blanket of noise even with the volume turned all the way down. When I plugged in my Etymotic ER-4S (100 ohm) IEMs, however, the noise became almost inaudible.Build quality is very respectable. The transmitter has a solid metal casing and the receiver, although plastic, seems well-built. The receiver also has a metal clip which is very sturdy.Battery life is very good. As the batteries drain, the ability to reliably receive a stereo signal also goes down. Using the included (cheap) batteries, I used the system for around 10 hours in stereo, then continued using it for about another 15 hours in mono. I have not tested it, but I would imagine you would get even better performance from quality batteries.Range is also well beyond what the specs say. I use this system in my church and while trying to find the maximum range, it started getting fuzzy at around 200 feet through 2 or 3 cinderblock walls. This was with fresh batteries, in stereo! I didn?t have a room large enough to test the line-of-sight range, but wouldn?t be surprised if it was 300 feet or more.My only complaint is that the transmitter doesn?t have a power LED. Overall, a very good product. If you?re on a budget and don?t need a tunable system, the Galaxy AS-900 is the best value for your money you?ll find.

Awesome single frequency system

By Core Pro Audio

from Dallas, TX

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-900 Wireless Personal System:

I got 2 of these full systems to replace a single Nady PEM 500 with 2 packs. I ordered additional packs for each unit as well. Huge difference between these and the Nady's. Nice clean signal. No static or anything. I am a sound man, as well as a lead vocalist, and these replaced some of my wedges. The appeal of them being single frequency units came from me watching bands with Sennheiser units constantly having to scan and sync their systems. Single frequency means no scan or sync issues. Just turn them on and mix. I live in a major market (high RF) area and have never had a problem with single frequency systems. They seem to have less issues with being off of the frequency. Like never. Also, the website says they have a 100' range. The manual says 150' and the box says 300'. So, i visited their site and found out the transmitters put out the same 10mw signal as the other 2 systems they advertise at 300'. Don't take this as me saying they get a 300' range, but, the specs are all the same. You be the judge.

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-900 Wireless Personal System:

Let me start by saying that you will have to spend twice as much to beat these, so for those who would put them down, get out your checkbook or adjust your expectations. These things sound good... Not great but Very Good. One of the persistant criticisms is on the earbuds and I have to say that I kind of regret buying the more expensive ear buds because I preceeded to break them on the break of the first set at the fist gig and the buds that came with this are really not bad. Again, not great, but not bad either. I would stronly suggest trying the included ear buds before you upgrade.

The thing is that with really good buds, you will find this system to by just a tad dull but not really in a bad way. At least they are not harsh or muddy. I had a Galaxy Hot Spot for years and it sounded fantastic. What I mean is that I don't think that the dulness is an accident. I think it's so you can hear clearly, without the feelilng of ice picks in your ears. The folks at Galaxy know what they are doing. After one gig, I can't live without them

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-900 Wireless Personal System:

Over all if it wasn't for the volume problem I would have thought this an excelent unit.Price is great compared to everything else out there. It has rack mount adaptation which is really a must for me since I run a plug and play system with everything in racks. I even have a detachable snake so I don't have to plug in and out the board or the processing at each set up. I'm hoping to find a way to incorporate this into my system should I get the volume issue settled.
Got one because of reviews and I wanted to have a supplement for a singer I provide production for. Work with a loud hard rock cover band and when I tried to use this device just straight signal from a mike to the unit signal was almost not there. Volume was all the way up. They only way I could get enough volume out of the unit was to put the signal into a 15 band eq before going into the transmitter and turning the eq all the way up on every band and max out the output on the eq. I still couldn't get the signal where I would like it but at least that made it to where you could hear it in the ear buds provided. Going to try some other tricks next time. Signal never got passed 3 green lights on the transmitter not sure why. All it needs is some volume. I run a SoundCraft gb8 32 board. Singer decided not to use it as it was his first time with an in ear and it was "wierd" to him.
The unit is made well and looks professional. Case is a bit cheap cardboard and styrofoam.
IF you don't need high volume then the price is right. Just needs better input processing.

So for i have used them at 3 gigs and they were easy to hook up and have performed flawlessly. As has already been said, the ear buds are low quality but I already had some Shure 215s that I use with the system. So far I think you can't beat this system for the price.

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-900 Wireless Personal System:

We have been looking for new wireless gear for our church for some time now. With the 700 band ban coming to a store near you in Canada we knew we needed some replacements. One of our psm 400's is also on the fritz. We have been using shure gear mostly and have been mostly happy with it. The 400's and the 600's. when I saw the price of this item I was skeptical but read lots of reviews and thought we would give it a try. We also had some space in the frequency range that these items are offered at so it worked out. We haven't had it long but so far its been all you could ask for at this price range and if you don't expect things it can't do then it works. The ear buds are average but if you have iem's then you already know that you need good ones.

Setup is easy and range is actually pretty good. We haven't tested the range extensively but who needs to...as long as it works from the source to the receiver.

The body pack doesn't feel any less durable then the psm 400 and with care should hold up nicely especially at this price point.

Would have been nice to have mix mode on these units so you could have two separate mixes (left and right) to two different packs. We also have not yet tried it in stereo as we never really will need to. So I can't comment on that.

All in all if you are looking for a cheaper alternative to the big guns this is a great little unit.

Oh and no it doesn't have buzz/white noise problems also know as rf interference. As long as you manage your rf band usage properly.

The bass response is decent but as suggested below below 80 clarity starts to drop off.

I am a professional bassist. After seeing positive reviews I tried the Galaxy AS900. In spite of trying my other expensive in-ear and over-the-ear phones, this unit had unbearable distortion and buzz in the bass frequencies. I did not try another instrument or vocals on it so I can't rate it on other frequencies. I returned it immediately for a full refund.

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-900 Wireless Personal System:

For a few bucks more buy new one . The battery pack was defective , only one side worked . I sent it back and didn't have to pay shipping , paid the difference and bought the new one . Otherwise I highly reccomend this unit , buy better ear buds !

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-900 Wireless Personal System:

I bought this system about 3 months ago as my first in ear monitor system. I was immediately impressed with this product. It has great range (I've had it out past 100 feet without dropout), is very simple to use, and the batteries seem to last forever. My only complaint is the earbuds it come with are terrible. I replaced with some Shure E315s (as per an earlier review) and it sounds great.

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-900 Wireless Personal System:
