Complete monitoring system that's smaller than a shoebox.
The Galaxy CORE PA 5X140 Powered 5" Monitor produces 146 watts, enough to power its internal speaker and two additional Galaxy Hot Spot personal monitors. It features a 1/4" input, an XLR input, a three-band equalizer, and a ferrofluid-cooled 5-inch driver with a 40-oz. magnet. It mounts on a mic stand for close placement to a performer and delivers incredibly clear sound that can cut through extreme ambient-noise levels. Its cab is made of black, fire-retardant styrene with a cast-aluminum grille.

After reading some reviews on this product, I convinced our church to purchase this item. I wish I hadn't. It is loud; however it is also obnoxious. The frequency response is not smooth, no matter how much you adjust the tone controls it doesn't get any better. OK for speaking, but not for singing or musical instruments.
I am a full time professional storyteller who does about 250 shows a year. This is my only amp and it never leaves the trunk of my car. It sits there in the heat and cold and when I get to a gig it is always there ready to perform. I can fill a school gym or an intimate setting for 20 people. I plug a wireless headset and for large groups use a Peavey mixer for flexibility. People cannot believe that all that sound is coming from that little box!
I am a full time storyteller who has to carry his sound system with him. The Galaxy goes with me everywhere. I carry the amp, cables, mic and wireless system in a small cosmetic case. The sound is quality for such a small amp and speaker. I can use is in small intimate areas or fill a gymnasium.
I bought this and am about to return it to the store. I can't stand the hiss.
I have owned this unit as part of package for three years now. I run sound and do PA work for my band as well as other bands. I have tossed this thing around in the the back of my truck, had it fall off mic stands, you name it and it still works great! The biggest complaint I get from performers is that they can hear themselves TOO well. Its amazing what the sound this thing can cut through!
Everything about this speaker is great, but it hisses so badly at loud volume, that it is very harsh to listen to.
I am a drummer, and have a custom monitor send run into this, which also powers a similar BOSS non-powered monitor cabinet. The CORE is near my Hi-hat, the BOSS above my floor tom, both on mic-stands. This monitor cuts through all the stage noise, and give me clear monitoring that allows me to play confidently without straining to hear the other musicians. Excellent for drummers!
