Galaxy Audio

Over the past three decades Galaxy Audio has tinkered with the popular Hot Spot near-field monitor, and 2010 rings in the new and improved Hot Spot 7. The biggest change, up until now, has been improving the ceramic, old-style driver to the more modern neodymium driver. The Hot Spot 7 utilizes the same neodymium driver as its most recent predecessor, with one significant improvement, there is more bass output. Galaxy Audio has developed an all-new, slightly larger outer shell design with many cool new built-ins such as a mic stand mount, mic boom attachment, handle, stand/wall bracket mounts. Being that there is more room inside the cabinet, this creates better bass response.

The Hot Spot 7 is a vocal reproduction monitor. The original Hot Spot monitor was developed in 1977 by Galaxy's founder while touring with musicians. He saw a need for a vocal monitor, and thus the Hot Spot was born.

The Hot Spot 7 works great for numerous reasons. First, the Hot Spot 7 can be set on a microphone stand, which allow them to be positioned closer to the user. Think about it, many performers purchase a 12" or 15" floor monitor, and, during the performance, roll off the low end and crank up the volume so the sound will travel from the floor to their ears. The Hot Spot 7 is mid-range oriented and it is closer to the performer, so there will be less stage volume, which reduces feedback. Second, the Hot Spot is physically smaller and lighter in weight, which makes it easier for transport. Plus the clarity is superior to any larger floor monitor.

Using a Hot Spot 7 will actually help reduce feedback from occurring on stage!

Comments about Galaxy Audio Hot Spot 7 with Volume control:

Our church purchased a set of 4 of these to replace our existing floor wedges, in the hopes that they would solve the stage volume level. These work fine for 1 or 2 people but in no way can they handle any low frequencies. If I try to run any instruments through them they sound VERY tinny. I would only recommend these for a single performer. These do not make good monitors for groups of 3+ instruments and vocals.

Comments about Galaxy Audio Hot Spot 7 with Volume control:

These monitors were a great value. After reading MANY reviews, pros and cons, I decided to purchase 4 for our Praise Band. They seem to work great for out use. I tied them into our existing sound system. I am a drummer and it works great for me. The only slight issue that I encountered is that for the drummer or keyboard player, you will need the tilting bracket to be able to tilt your monitor. A simple mic stand will no go low enough.

Comments about Galaxy Audio Hot Spot 7 with Volume control:

I purchased this monitor a few months ago but just had a gig with my new band this past weekend and used it for the first time. The sound quality was so bad that the whole band agreed I should send it back. Luckily they had an extra monitor for me to use.

Comments about Galaxy Audio Hot Spot 7 with Volume control:

There is one happy drummer at our church. We've tried numerous monitors for years and Hot Spot has solved the feedback in that area, he can hear everything, fits perfectly in his electric set.

Comments about Galaxy Audio Hot Spot 7 with Volume control:

The new Hot Spot 7 monitors are a huge disappointment, and we returned them immediately. What shocks me is that I've used Hot Spots in the past with great success, but these are completely different in sound quality. I'm no scientist, but I wonder if it's their new "Made with Neolite" feature.

The bottom line is, they sound tinny and awful, and I wouldn't recommend them for ANY application. The previous generation of Hot Spots did their job as promised - they do not pack very much bass, and yet the sound was full and decent enough to use as stage monitors in quieter applications (e.g. cafes, church, etc.).

These new ones sounded so horrible that I didn't even want to finish running through songs in practice time - I didn't like the sound of my own voice or guitar at ALL, not to mention all the other voices and instruments. Yuck! I realized I wasn't enjoying hearing myself sing - I wasn't enjoying the music at all, because the sound was so awful. We promptly packed them all up and went back to the original wedge monitors.

I'm extremely disappointed with Galaxy Audio here. I've used Hot Spots in the past and I stood behind them - in fact, it was me who had recommended we make the investment and buy these. I will not be doing THAT again. Goodbye Hot Spots. Your era is past.

          Galaxy Hot Spot 7

          By Bob Flores

Comments about Galaxy Audio Hot Spot 7 with Volume control:

These are great little monitors. I bought two of them for starters. Have used them in both indoors and outdoors setting. In-doors they are great especially with the volume control. For the outdoor setting I also use a floor monitor for the bottom end of the vocals. I'm looking to buy one more.

          awesome product!!

Comments about Galaxy Audio Hot Spot 7 with Volume control:

All I can say is ten plus years of trouble free performance. as a sound contractor, these Galaxy hot spots havent blown and have served me well.
These little mons are the best solution for a tight stage. I use them for sound contracts for drummers. My original set of 2 I have had for over ten yrs and they still work like the day I bought them. They do not handle lows.
These are really built well. I doubt they ever get many returns from manufactures defects.
Awesome investment. A go to products thats solves space issues as well as feedback resistant.
